These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. The flashing should be a repeated number of blinks. Please post that count as that will indicate the circuit in which the set detected a problem. The set is in protective shutdown. Using hte blink count, we can determine the possible problem and solutions.
Its the BULB people! You need to change it every 3 to 5 years! I have had my sony 55" for 6 years... I had Best Buy come out 3 years ago, changed the bulb... it worked fine. Just started flasshing and shut its self off and back on again. Time for another bulb.
