Manual removal of cd magazine

I changed my car stereo to a head unit that was ipod compatible. in doing so, the installers removed the CHA-1214 but forgot to remove the CD magazine. without reconnecting the head unit and disc changer to a power source, is there any way to remove the CD magazine?

If you can find the manual of the device, there might be a small pin to press or a small hole to stick the end of a paperclip in for manual release, maybe if you check the device itself you will find such a small hole or pin with printed "release".

Seems to me an error of the installers, just go back and ask them to remove the magazine properly.

I have a CHA 1214, and it has disc 4 stuck in the changer and I get error 1 on the head unit. it had stuck on track one of each of the first 3 discs so i kept changing to see if it was a disc problem....

Possible, however, that's not the problem. You need to pull the unit out and open the housing. Chances are you have a load error, two discs on one tray, fairly common problem. It is a self repair if your electronics friendly and take your time. Do not use force! once you've pulled the jammed disc out, plug the changer back in while it's still apart and let it cycle, should be fine. If you've got some, use "Dust off" and clean out the chassis. Do not spray on the optical pickup lens! Get a Laser lens cleaning disc that uses fluid, run it thru a couple times and you should be good to go. Hope this helps. If you need further help with this, post a comment. I did 16 years in car audio in my prior life, and can walk you thru it.

there are small drive belts that provide the power to operate the different parts to eject the CD magazine, i suggest you remove the covers and check these belts for slack/strech, it is a common reason for this problem

Hi
Open top cover, if the empty magazine was left inside the cd trays it can slide out into the playing area and jam the unit, check it like that anyhow. Sometimes you can see a small metal tab to release the magazine.

However Error1 means Battery inside CD Changer needs to be replaced.
And NO CD.CD error message means No CD in magazine or no magazine in CD Changer.

To fix the problem, disconnect the CD changer.
take off the top plastic slide cover,
with a small screwdriver slowly move the gearing so that the CD disc holder will move back to the load - unload position.
Pop out the CD holder.
Replace unit, reconnect the optic and power lead, switch on radio and the unit will work again.
grease the moving parts with light lubricant.

Jammed CD & Magazine in an Alpine CHA-S634

Mine jammed after I dropped it, trying to swap it into a new car :-)
Same problem, however. Three of the six CD trays had wandered into the righthand mechanism (which selects and plays one cd at a time). Nothing else at all, most fortunately, was broken.
I removed the cover (3 screws on each side), and the small black faceplate that holds the eject button. The main faceplate came off too, needless to say; no screws, just tabs.
You have to remove the side brackets also, and the angle-adjust spring loaded pins on both sides need to be slid out. Then the body of the cd changer rotates out of its cover.
Now, you can see down into the mechanism. A CD was still stuck in the reader, along with several shifted trays. I could simply remove the CD, and with a small screwdriver, shifted the trays back over so that I could then successfully eject it. I removed and realigned the trays, which had been jammed, and it worked once more! Reassembled and reinstalled ;-)

I have a CDE-9872 and it wont pick up my ipod touch

Add Alpine's optional "Full Speed" connection cable and you'll be able to use the CDE-9872 to control your iPod. -Crutchfields website

This is compatible with first and second generation iPods touch.
fyi- if you have a mini-stereo aux in jack on the deck you can connect a ipod touch compatible mini stereo cable to the earphone jack of your ipod.

Error 1 on alpine cha-s364

Quick Note: It's really helpful to your cause if you make sure you include more information about your system and what you're doing to get an error.

It's also a good idea to make sure you type in your model number correctly - you've typed in cha-s364 (the actual model you're talking about "I think" is a CHA-S634 - please verify!!

Here's a link to the user manual

As for the E-01 Error message on your CD Changer:

The E-01 reading is an error message, usually because the changer magazine is jammed in the changer. To manual eject out the magazine, take a thin plastic ruler (at least 5-1/2" in length) and slip it between the bottom of the magazine and the changer. Now, push in. This will hit a release button in the back. If the magazine does not eject, you will need to send the unit in to be serviced. To locate the nearest authorized service center to you call 1-800-ALPINE-1.
Note: if the magazine is half way out, but jammed, DO NOT try to release the magazine. You will need to send the unit in to be serviced by a technician.

CHA 1214

After you remove the outer cover, you can see a small, spring-loaded black arm under the middle of the magazine. Just lightly push it to the side, and the magazine will eject.
