Have you by any chance set the print properties to DRAFT? that will print a light copy to save ink and looks like what you describe. goto printer properties and select the correct mode or default.

When I print with my brother hl-2070n...the print out is very very faint. i have changed the toner and drum...any suggestions?

if you printing is just faint, need to replace toner, but if your printing is faint and blurry, need to add grease to the fuser film roller, need advanced skills for that, disassemble the fuser unit take out the fuser film and put some special high temp grease on the heating element, assembly all back and install, the other way is replacing the fuser unit

Just changed the toner and the printer now prints faintly

There are two reasons for faint/ light printing:

1- Toner Saving Mode may be turned-on from the printer OR from printer settings in windows
2- There could be dust/ Toner Dust accumulated on the mirrors and lenses inside the printer, which partially blocks laser beams and requires cleaning/ servicing by a professional.

Hope this helps!

My printer shows ayellow light - toner save-and prints faint

You have change the toner save mode first, in the printing window you have a properties options in that you change the mode of printing, if you turn off the toner saver mode in the properties option you can print the documents in normal, dark printing formats. Thank you.

I have changed all the ink cartridges on my Brother MFC5440CN it

Light/faint prints usually are a result from clogged ink or air bubbles between the cartridge and print head (thus changing cartridge wont fix problem). Try printing the test page print from the machine (Ink Management -> set/ok twice). Answer the question(s) in the display and repeat this up to five times. The colors should be improved after 1-3 test prints usually.

Printing too lightly

Is the paper hot when you take it off the printer? The reason I am asking is, there is a part called a fuser, its the last process in the printing cycle. The fuser gets to almost 300 degrees to melt the toner onto the paper. If the fuser is not working correctly then the paper will be room temp and their will be no print.

Printing is faded and too light

more important than all that nonsense is:
is it faint when you do an internal report or make a copy?
if only on copies it is the film on the underside of the glass.
if on prints and copies it is the drum.

Brother 5140 faint print

I had the same problem and I just fixed it.

It turns out that the toner cartridge I was using was not an authentic brother cartridge. It was an Office Max knockoff.

I replaced the knockoff with an original BROTHER toner cartridge and BAM! Right back in business.

What tricked us for so long was that the knockoff worked for two weeks before it conked out, so while we were looking for the problem, we kept saying to ourselves, "No, it COULDN'T be the toner cartridge. It's practically brand new."

Hope this helps.
