I have a PCI 486 (adaptec 2940 scsi) with 3.2 4.2 and tcp/ip connected to
an IBM AS400 using an IBM ISA 4/16 shared RAM token ring adapter, and it
works fine.
Now I am replacing it with a Pentium Machine, dual 2940, but It have
several problems.
I moved the Network board to the new machine and it is regularly recognized
by o.s. but
even making a simple ping after 300 to 500 loop it hangs.
What is trange is that if you leave the system for some time (for example 1
hour) the ping works again for a little.
I cannot determine if is a SCO problem or a motherboard problem.
PLEASE HELP!

Hi !
Following our recent conversation, I suggested to you to
try the AHS 5.2 (the one bundled with the CD) and to
give the patch OSS 449a a try. Have you tried 'em ?
Did you notice any changes ? I know this might sound
obvious but did you try by changing the network
adapter ? Also, try to strip the system to the minimum
(remove the Stallion board, the tape and everything
not strictly related to the system functionality) and try
to perform the same tests which raised the problem.
Hope this helps !
Best,
Roberto

turned out to be a faulty BNC connector. Make sure your
cable and connectors are sound and that the cards are configured
for the correct cable type (some are switchable).

Thanks for reply.
I am shure of cable and Network board becouse I moved back to the old
System and
it works. By the way Token Ring is not Ethernet, and has no BNC, but
strange IBM connectors to a box like a hub, and a standard DB9 to the
board.
Thank you.
Bye.
