Question about Sony PVW-2600 VCR
Sony PVW-2600 lights on control panel flash upon powering up. It looks like the control panel took a really bad hit from the front coner/side. Once we got the elevator to work it seems to play ok - if the flashing lights don't bother you. I know there is something wrong but I can't remember what it is. Thanks
If this control panel has the hard brown plastic LED holders, that could be the problem. They can absorb moisture from the atmosphere, corrode the LED leads, and deposit a conductive goop (that's a technical term) on the PCB, screwing up the lamp logic. Replace all the holders- Sony only sells a new, improved version- and any LEDs with corroded leads. Clean the PCB thoroughly with alcohol to get rid of all the goop, and you should be fine.
