Question about Gateway FPD2275W LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Veiwsonic VA2026w. Yellow tint down R/h of display.

I purchased the above monitor six months ago. An opaque 2" yellow vertical line began flashing intermittently down the right hand side of the display.

This has now become a permanent addition to enhance my viewing pleasure (not).

I have checked graphic card, re- installed monitor and display drivers, removed any magnetic fields around monitor and even resorted to full virus/malware scans.

With no positive results from this little adventure i have re-installed my O/S and patted my head and rubbed my belly!!

Any Takers???

Which OS are you running?
Try this, after staring your PC press CNTRL-ALT-Delete and go to the processe TAB. Check if you see EHTRAY.EXE running. If so kill it and see if the yellow line disappears. ehtray.exe is part Mediaplayer and runs on startup, sometimes causing strange things.

You can remove it from the registry safely but if youé not familiar with the registry don't do it because 1 error might mess up your PC.

Check the link in my answer, there are some other files known to cause strange behavior mentioned there.

One other option, turn the brightness of your monitor all the way down by using the adjusting buttons on the monitor itself, if the yellow line is still there, i'm afraid your monitor has given up on you. If the line disappears, it's most likely a software issue and it should be solvable.

Yellow screen

There are a variety of problems that can happen to the display monitor of an Acer laptop.
The most common problem is the screen fading or becoming too hard to see.
This can be corrected by adjusting the brightness levels.
Another common problem involves incorrect color, which can be resolved by adjusting the display color settings.
Yet another big problem is the display freezing or appearing jumpy, which can be resolved by updating the display driver.

Hold down the "Fn" key.
Tap the right-arrow key to brighten the display screen.

Tap the left-arrow key to darken the display screen.
Release the "Fn" key to save your display settings.
Color
Right-click on the desktop and click "Graphic Properties."
Adjust the screen resolution by clicking "Display Settings" and choosing a resolution setting from the drop-down menu.
Click "Apply" to check the resolution of the display.
Click "OK" to save the resolution settings.

Adjust the color of the screen by clicking "Color Correction" and moving the brightness or contrast slider to the right or left.
Click "Apply" to check the color resolution of the display.
Click "OK" to save the color settings.

Click "OK" to exit the Graphic Properties application.
Update the Display Driver
Right-click on the desktop. Click "Personalize," "Display Settings" and "Advanced Settings."

Click "Driver."

Click "Update Driver" and choose "Search Automatically."
Click "Install" to install the updated monitor driver. After the driver has been installed, click "OK" to restart the laptop when prompted.
Yellow screen
Yellow tinting in monitors can be caused by either a software calibration issue, bad cables or a worn out display and backlight.
Before you assume that the issue is a hardware one, determine if there are software settings that affect the color or if the cables are working correctly.
After checking these items, and if the yellow tint only occurs on one monitor and you cannot eliminate it, the problem is a display hardware issue and it is less expensive to replace the monitor.

Unplug the power cord from the monitor and replace it with another one.
This is a standard power cord used in printers, monitors and desktop PCs so you can trade it for a cable from another device.
Turn on the PC and monitor to see if the yellow is still there.
Turn off the computer and monitor.
Replace the video cable with another VGA cable from another monitor.
Use one from another computer before going out to buy one.
Restart the computer to see if the yellow tint is gone.
Right click any area on the desktop and click "Properties" from the list of options that appears.
Choose "Display Settings," then "Advanced Settings."
Select "Monitor" and click the "Calibrate Color" button.
Wait to see if the yellow tint goes away.
Locate the temperature color settings on the monitor.
Adjust these to see if there is a change in the color.
A warm color setting will give the screen images more of a yellowish tint.
Click on the "Start" icon, then click "Control Panel" and "System and Security" and choose "Device Driver."
Locate the video driver and click "Update."
Select the option allowing Windows to connect to the Internet to find an updated driver.
Wait for the update to complete in a few minutes.
Expect the yellowing issue to disappear.
Connect the PC to another monitor to see if the same problem occurs.
If the yellow tint does not appear on the newly connected monitor, the problem is a bad backlight or display and the monitor should be replaced with a new one.

My monitor has a yellow line running down the middle

This is a bad LCD panel. If it is still under warranty, your best bet is to have it replaced again. The only fix is to replace the actual panel and that would cost more than a new monitor.

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

Try connecting an external monitor to the Dell Inspiron 9300 and see if the vertical line is also present on the monitor. If the monitor display is fine, then your laptop’s LCD display panel is defective. If the monitor also displays the vertical line, then your problem is with either the video card or motherboard located inside your laptop.
Not sure if the Compaq Presario has an external monitor plug, but if it does the above procedure can be applied to that one as well.

Monitor displaying yellow tint

Try this. Worked for me immediately, including with PhotoShop

  1. Go to Color Management (in Vista, just click the Windows Orb / Start Search & type in Color Management)
  2. On Devices, select your display (repeat if you have multiple ones... at least I did). e.g., Syncmaster ....
  3. Check the box: Use my settings for this device
  4. Select any and all profiles you have and Remove them.
Check to see if that fixed it. You may need to restart. I didn't have to.
