DVD will not finalize

I have a few DVD's that will start the process of finailizing. It seems to go through the process but after a minute the titles of the dvd appear on the screen as though it has completed the process. When you try to play in another dvd player it says disc error. I have tried to finalize the same DVD's a few other times but the process doesn't finish. Is there another way to finalize the discs? After copying from VHS tape to 16x Dvd+R, I go to finalize the disk and it states something like automatically setting menu: Then it just freezes up after the first 6 menu titles and will not finalize. Help.

  • deweagles Dec 13, 2008

After I have titled all selections I press "finalize". It asks me are you sure & I say "yes". It then says it is automatically setting menu. The screen shows 6 pics & menu titles & freezes up. I have to unplug from the wall as I can't even open the drawer or turm it off.

I don't have a problem when I record the whole video, just when I divide it up.

Every time I tried to finalize a DVD that had more than 6 titles, the machine froze, the disk could not be ejected and it had to be unplugged to get it to work at all.

Rdr-gx257 says no title after recording

If your Sony RDR-GX257 DVD recorder says "no title" after recording, it could be due to a few different issues.
One possibility is that the disc was not finalized after recording, which can cause playback issues on other devices. To finalize the disc, you will need to access the disc menu on the DVD recorder and select the "finalize" option.
Another possibility is that the disc was not recorded properly, which can cause the "no title" error to appear. This can be caused by a variety of factors, including a dirty or damaged disc, a malfunctioning recorder, or incorrect settings on the recorder.
If you continue to experience issues after finalizing the disc and checking the recording settings, it may be necessary to seek assistance from a qualified technician or contact Sony customer support for further assistance.

Allthough The DVD's I have were made on the DRVCR900, they now cannot be played on it, I'm thinking that the finishing process never took place in order to code it to play on all devices, is there...

Hi,
Finishing / finalizing DVD should be on the DVD recorder that you recorded previously..
Put it back in..
go to MENU
and look for FINALIZE title under RECORDING menu..
and select it OK ,let it finalize..then you can play it in any DVD player..
one note ..do you know that this recorder can only record to DVD-R
DVD-RW discs...as Write support..not the ones +R/RW

Hope this helps!..otherwise let me know..
Take care and please

Hi i have a sharp hp22 i ham trying to play normal dvds on it ? is that possible

In general, Blu-ray player is compatible with DVDs. So you can play DVD on Sharp Blu-ray Player. However, some pretected DVD can be played on Blu-ray Player. As for How to remove region restriction on DVD for playing on any Blu-ray player, just follow below steps.
Step 1. Download and install Leawo DVD Ripper on your computer, and then kick off the program to enter the main interface. Import the DVD with copy protection on your computer by clicking Add Blu-ray/DVD. Once the protected DVD is selected, you will be provided three options to import DVD file(s): Full Movie, Main Movie and Custom Mode. Full Movie is to import all titles, and Main Movie only imports the longest title by default. And you are able to choose titles for importing under Custom Mode.

Step 2. In a drop-down box named "MP4 Video", you can click "Change" to enter the Profile panel to select the output format.

Step 3. Set a directory under "Save to" box. Finally, hit "Convert" button at the bottom to start the conversion process. During the conversion process, Leawo Blu-ray Ripper will automatically remove the disc copy protection and then begin the conversion in several minutes. With Leawo DVD Ripper, it will help do Blu-ray players play all region DVDs.

HOW DO YOU BURN A DVD ON A SONY DVD RECORDER RDR

Make sure your Sony input signal is on L1 or L3 (the inputs in back of recorder) or on L2 which is for inputs for cameras(located in front).Once you get a signal, you're where you need to be. Choose your recording mode for recording speed (pull down the flap on the remote control for this button and also the input button).
Choose from between1 hour and six hours. To archive really important stuff, stick with the first 3 speeds. TV recording can be on 3, 4 or 6 hour mode.
Push the record/pause button once. This will put the recorder into the record/pause mode and then it awaits you pushing it again to start recording immediately. Just pushing record will force the machine into a 3 to five second delay before actually recording anything so you might mess up and miss the first few seconds of your input. Suggest you use a dvr-rw or dvd+rw to practice on.

When your recording is done, just push the pause again. It stops recording but allows you to add more on to the first recording without starting a new chapter if you want. Just continue to release the pause button to continue.
If you are satisfied that you are finished, then push the pause button to stop recording. Wait for the info to be written(flashing message on screen). When it stops, you may play the dvd.
Notice- since the dvd has not been FINALIZED, you may only play it back on this unit without finalizing. It will not play on other dvd players unless you finalize it first.
To finalize, look on remote for the TOOL button. Press it once. Now push DISC INFO once. Use arrow keys and enter button on remote for the following. Scroll down to FINALIZE and press enter.
Use arrow keys to scroll to OK. push the ENTER button. Finalizing should take between 30 seconds and 2 minutes.

Warning- if titles or chapters are to typed in, it must be done BEFORE finalizing. Finalizing afterwards cannot be done.
Erasing can be done in part or all if using an RW+ or RW- disc
