Num and caps lock flashing, laptop freezing

Hi alanneil19

Sounds to me like you have a virus or other malware in your laptop
Follow these steps and I believe your problems will be solved, if not then look for something mechanical/electrical wrong with the computer.
***********************************************************************
To remove a virus, trojan, worm, etc from your computer...do it the EASY way...let someone else do it for you.
Start your computer in the Safe Mode
To do this you will do the following
As the computer is starting keep tapping the F1, F2,F10 or F8 Key depending on your computer.
This will start the computer in the Safe Mode.
Once in the safe mode go to the following webage below and download, install, and run Microsoft Safety Scanner for FREE.
Once you run the Microsoft Safety Scanner (it may take quite a while depending on the size of your hard drive) it will remove all the virus's,trojans, worms, etc it finds, if it does not completely remove them all you will be given a chance to chat with a Microsoft Professional thru a pop open window and he will take control of your computer (with your permission) and finish removing all the rest of the virus's, trojans, or worms that are on your computer for FREE!! Can't beat FREE!!
Please take time to rate me

Freeze ibm r52 ot start up

Try going in through safe mode w/networking (hit F8 when its booting into Windows) and see if it freezes up there... if its freezing there well something si seriously wrong with the OS or the hardware is partially to blame. If it load properly in safe mode then it would be a matter of determining specifically which part of the boot is freezing (freezes on Win XP load scree, freezes on Welcome, freezes after login, etc). The more you narrow down the scope of the problem, the easier it will be to help you. Try safe mode and let me know if its better or still freezes when going in that way.

Post Boot Freeze

It freezes because one of the programs set to start at boot crashes. To identify which immediately after booting open Task Manager and look at the processes - one should reach 99% CPU use. Once you have found it stop it from launching at boot or just uninstall it.

Wont boot up

Norine,

You might want to try plugging an external monitor in to see if it is the LCD or the video card that is bad. If it is the LCD, an easy fix. If it is the video card, not so easy.

Good luck, and thank you for rating this response.

My Toshiba Satellite M45-169 keeps freezing

1. The battery on the motherboard has died. Replace battery.
2. The BIOS is corrupt, reflash BIOS.

Most likely #1, very rarely #2. Pop out the battery on the motherboard and replace it, after the first time you boot up your computer, go into BIOS and set everything the way it should be for your computer (usually just time and date) and then after each sequential time you reboot, that should take care of your problem.
