GE Profile top refrig, bottom freezer PDS22LBNWW, ice maker problems

The ice maker works, but makes too much ice, it is now flooding the left rear tray with a big block of ice. I took the unit out and noticed there are a couple of adjustments behind the plastic door where I would call it the mech/elec area. One of these has to adjust something.

Although I don't have the same fridge I have the same prob. I noticed a +,- adjustment screw behind the cover you are talking about. I'm going to adjust to the minus to see if it stops the leak. Let you know.

If you are sure it is caused by the ice maker or if it is not it can be fixed. The only way an ice maker would leak like that is if ice is blocking the inlet tube and when the water comes on the water is spewed in a different direction than the ice maker. Most times this is caused by a slow leak in the water control valve for the ice maker side at the rear of the refrigerator. You can stop the problem by melting the ice in the fill tube with a hair dryer and keeping an eye on it until you see ice beginning to build up there again. That would indicate a slow leak in the water control valve that is not closing all the way when off. The other reason for large pools of ice in the freezer is a frozen over defrost condensate drain behind the cover in the rear of the freezer and would require you to unplug power and remove the rear panel. I will try to get some photos and a link shortly that covers that problem a lot more in just a few minutes. Sea Breeze

It sounds like you just have a leak at the back. Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser and watch on the back for where the water may be leaking before it gets up to the ice maker.

Ge s/s icemake floods water

Icemaker generally has only about a 6 second fill time. Most likely a particle made it past the screen in the fill valve and would not allow the internal diaphram in the valve to seal. You can't get to the internal parts of the valve. Replace the valve. Consider an in-line filter installation before the refrig hook up to prevent this from repeating.

GE PDS20MCP - the Ice maker is not making ice. Took out full tray of ice and has not made any since? Is there some reset button or something?

Before you the Water Valver - Shut your water off - disconnect the water line to the from the back of the refrigerator at the top where it goes into the icemaker. I used zip tie or something flexable to see if it would go all the way through to the
tube inside the refrig. If you have obstruction - use your hair dryer
to thaw the ice from inside the refrigerator tube. When the flexable item goes all the way through. Hook back the water line to the icemaker. You will have ice soon. If still not working, replace the inlet water valve at bottom back of refrig.

GE refrigerator, ice melts in ice bin

Since your refrig is cooling , I would replace the # 4 AND # 5 thermistors . The # 4 thermistor , tells the main control board , the temp of the coils , if they need defrosted , when they are thru defrosting . This thermistor is the 1 " long , torpedo looking piece , clipped on the top left of the coils , with 2 white wires going to it . Part number WR55X10025 . It would be advisable to also replace the # 5 thermistor , located at the bottom of the freezer , slightly in front of the drain , also with 2 white wires going to it , slid into a housing . This thermistor , is the freezer thermistor , which tells the control board , the freezer temp , when to cycle off , associated with the fan speed also .

GE fridge is warm and broken; the freezer is cold though.

Air circulation problem. Evaporator fan in freezer moves some air to refrig. Either fan is not working or air passages are blocked with ice. If ice found, then a defrost component failure has occurred. Fix what you find.

Ice maker not making ice. Water disp inside frig disp water.

the line that gives water to the ice maker, every time the water comes down it lives a drip of water that turns to ice blocking the line, get some hot water and a towel and place the hot wet towel on top of the line intel it melts the ice in side the line. it happens to my frige at list once a year. if that is not the problem the valve that supplies water tho the ice maker needs replacing, it's behind the frige at the bottom, where the line coming from the house meets the frige.
