Problem for HP Scanjet 4200c Flatbed Scanner

The picture that i scan is not clear

I have just recently been given an hp scanjet 4200 c which my daughter doesn't use anymore. When I scanned my pictures, there were yellow lines which appeared on the copied image. What can I do?

My Canon Scanner says to clean the glass window with Alcohol, let dry, to get rid of the lines. I haven't tried it yet, but they list it as a Maintence procedure.
