You may try restoring your mp3 player to factory settings and then loading the music back. Make sure you have a back up of your files before restoring though.
Well there may be a setting on the MP3/4 player that you can change the delay on the screen backlight staying lit for. Rummage around the settings for such a thing. If you can't find anything, some more information on what type of MP3/MP4 player it is would be helpful.
Typically this is an indication that your battery is dead. If the music is still playing but the screen is blank I would say a hardware failure and replacement would be the best option.
Sounds like you have two problems here. First my guess is your files bought from walmart are corrupted some how. just delete the ones that are giving you fits and call it a day. Second you mentioned it wont even sync music,,,, Are you saying none of your music or just the walmart ones ?
