We called a repair man and he fixed it in ten minutes. Saved a lot of hassle didn't have the misery of laying on the floor in a confined space, using a different part. First repair on this frig for nine years, so feel lucky. Thank you.

The ice maker in my Whirlpool Gold (Model GI6FDRXXY07) stopped making ice. I can get water from the door and can hear the ice maker cycling. It is calling for water but the flow valve is not opening.

The same valve that the water comes from except there are two halves to the valve. The valve you need is a=> Whirlpool Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve WPW10312696 The problem is with these models the ice maker tends to function a little causing you to believe it is OK when they are worn out. I can point you to a manual to see if the water valve works by going to page 18 HERE and use a jumper wire between test point L and the letter V. Make sure the wire is insulated so you don't get shocked. Otherwise the ice maker may need to be changed and it is less expensive than the water control valve Ice Maker=> HERE

I saw your response to another Kenmore frig and I have a similar problem I want to ask you about. I have a Side-by-side Kenmore frig(model 106.9555722) that we've had for 16 years!! Other than r

I have seen this one other time in all my years of appliance repair and changing out the "water inlet valve" corrected the problem. I don't have an answer to why it did, but it did. Here is the valve for your unit.
After you change the valve be sure to purge the water line for a good 5 - 10 mins to get all the nasty water out. Keep me posted!

Water valves leak like a leaking faucet sometimes. They just will not close all the way allowing water to bypass the valve and either drip at dispenser or drip and make a mess in freezer. Your model takes a=> 2219592 Water Valve - Dual Outlet

The water dispenser and the ice maker have stopped working on my Whirlpool Gold GS5SHA. I have cleaned and defrosted the ice maker. The lines look clear. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Hello Kent, with the work you were doing on your frig did you shut off the water valve and just forget to turn it back on. This is a very common problem. Check and see, GOOD LUCK.

Whirlpool gold side by side ice maker not making ice... have replaced the ice maker... still not working, no water to unit... not frozen up... water dispenser is working fine

You have a dual solenoid water valve. Blue for the water and red for the ice-maker. It located in the rear lower part of the frig. The water solenoid needs replacing that will solve your problem. BB

I cannot get water from the water dispenser

OK can you get someone to test the voltage on the water control valve on the rear of the refrigerator. Someone needs to press dispense water while the other person test the voltage. I believe the dual water control valve on the rear for the dispenser side has failed. Could you send the model number? Thanks, Sea Breeze

the problem is your icemaker. there is one sure way to see if your old valve was good, hook up a water line to it and apply 110 volts to each valve and usually the valves have different size terminals on them. actually if you are getting water out of your dispenser than your friend did in fact hook up the valve correctly.
