I installed a msi k9n6pgm2-v2 motherboard - and when I plug it into power nothing happens. I have unplugged everything from the board and now only have the power switch connector and the reset connector, the cpu fan, and 24pin power and 4pin power and one memory chip any thoughts

Do you get any beep codes if you take out the memory and try starting? Do you get any lights on the MB? Do you see any fan movement at all when you try to turn it on?

No. Absolute silence. I just put in new memory modules just in case - the fan on both the power supply and the cpu fan do not move. I know the power supply works because if I take all the connectors off the motherboard it turns on. I also know that the power supply is working because I hooked up the connectors to the cd drives and they worked. I also did the old paper clip in the green and black wires of the 24 pin connector and the fans worked. I am not sure what else to try

Have you checked the BIOS jumper? Sometimes it needs to be seeded as per the manual the other thing to check would be to make sure your start button functions, I have had a bad button on a tower before. You should be able to use a small screw driver or paper clip and jumper over the posts for the start button on the Mother board and see if you get anything. This might have already been checked, but are you sure the Power supply is ok? You may already know this as well but just verify your ram is in the "0" slot as well.
Good luck!

MSI K9N6PGM2-V2 motherboard audio VERY quiet.. I can't tune the volume very loud at all. The board is brand new. I can hear the audio from the external speakers when volumes are set to highest levels...

Check to make sure the following:
  • You have the speakers plugged into the 'green'-colored sound connectors at the back of the mobo.
  • Also make sure that your 'Windows Sounds' aren't set low. Sometimes I set my Sound Properties (accessible when you double-click the speaker icon in the taskbar) to 'lose' that setting, to keep things simple. But if your overall volume is at 100%, and this setting is at around 20% or below, you could experience this issue.
  • If these are not powered speakers, you know what I'm saying here...
I'll check back in later to see if this helped you. Mike

Hello, Please try and insert the DATA cable properly from the motherboard to the hard disk as well as DVD writer, and try and interchange the power cable to this devices, or change the power pack and see if the problem continues. It might be that the power to this devices are not enough. If this fails, then try installing a different operating system. Cheers
