GE ASH18DAS1 Temperature Control

Everything on the electronic control panel works fine except for the temp. control. It is stuck on 75. The unit cools and maintains 75 degrees. I have cycled power, unpluged the unit. No change. Please assist with what parts are needed and where I can order them. Thanks.

I don't have the book for this particular unit but, check the sequencers that control the electric heat mode, as the regulator heat pump works good. The part may have a time or temperature delay that is too long for you. Also if it has a remote thermostat, check the heat anticipate setting. You will have to check the installation manuel, but its usually .6 to .8, but I don't think that is the problem.

If the units are worked on by someone who is not GE approved service tech, yes it can void your warranty. If these units are not properly installed it could be why you have excess moisture. A slight tilt toward the rear of the unit gives better moisture drainage to the outside.

SOURCE: Problem with GE Zoneline 5200 model

Heat pumps have saftey circuits that prevent liquid flooding of the compressor. Inadequate airflow across the evaporator in cooling can trip this circuit. Have your package unit serviced with particular attention to cleaning the evaporator coil and be sure your filters are clean and changed frequently in the summer months. Hope this helps GL!

SOURCE: I have a GE air conditioner with ditigal panel. I

Wash out outside coil from time to time. This is the most over looked part of window units. Take care not to spray water directly into fan motor. If not real humid in house check temp coming out of ac inside and make sure filter and coil are clean. run on high speed and the air should have good force. 20 to 30 degree temp drop of room temp should be about right. Much depend on outside temp and humidity and indoor humidity plus insulation factor of area. How many people are in the area and if you keep unit on day and night .

After turning off the unit the display is off but the unit is still running.

If it has humidity control and the cool is still on but set temp is higher than the room temp, the humidity control will override set temp. If it has no %rh control then it probably has a circuit board fault; micro relay is stuck closed and board needs to be replaced. Its probably the circuit board. On it, there is a little black box(s). About 1" X 1/2" in size. With long run times the small contacts inside will fuse/melt together.

Wont shutt off

Have you tried other settings? Try 77 or 80 and see if it cuts off then. If not, suspect a stuck relay on the control board or faulty sensor. I assume you have cleaned the condenser and air filters?

I have an old Kenmore window unit that looks like a 72055 (control panel on top left). Although I have it set at 90 degrees and the room temperature is 75, the fan cycles on and off. How can I set it so...

most have a 'continious mode' that operates the air moving fan whenever the unit is on, or a 'cycling mode' that operates from a temp sensor usually near the input over the evaporator coil.
Look for the instruction for setting the mode you want.

I suspect the unit compressor is not starting and it just keeps retrying when the overload switch cools off from the previous attempt to start.

Power surge/Control Panel

The control board blew. You will need to replace the control board on your unit and everything will work correctly again. When a power surge happens it will blow the weakest link, and if your system is not on a protected outlet then the weakest link is your control board.

My A/C (Carrier weathermaker 8000 hybrid) is not cooling properly

set the t-stat low and let it run for 5 minutes , stick a thermometer in the return air closest to the unit as possible until you get a good reading , then stick the thermometer in the cold air supply again closest to the indoor unit as possible let sit until it stops going down in temp.
this is called your temp difference and it should be atleast a 14deg. F difference from in to out. if its lower you have a refrigerant problem, Let me know how it goes.

GE Room Heat/Cool unit will not heat with heat pump

If it was me I would cnage the sensor first. Simply because it is way cheaper than the control board and these sensors are fickle as hell to begin with.
