Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines
You could have a drive motor that has seized up, or start capacitor failure (physically attached to the motor). This could generate the buzzing noise you hear. The motor is not cheap and is priced about $130 at repairclinic.com (item number 769). It may be wise to replace the start capacitor, first, to see if that is the problem (item number 2859) since it is much cheaper.

You have two water solenoid valves, one hot water and one for cold. If you switch the hot and cold water hose connections the washer may fill. If it does, the solenoid valve is defective, and you will need to order a new one and replace it. If you take off the back panel of the washer you can follow the hose to the solenoid which has wires connected to it. Did you stick a bucket under the water faucet to make sure water is actually coming out of the faucet when you turn it on?
