You could have a drive motor that has seized up, or start capacitor failure (physically attached to the motor). This could generate the buzzing noise you hear. The motor is not cheap and is priced about $130 at repairclinic.com (item number 769). It may be wise to replace the start capacitor, first, to see if that is the problem (item number 2859) since it is much cheaper.

If you need instructions on how to replace the drive motor (or capacitor), click on this link:

It is recommended that you check the motor coupling if you have to remove the drive motor. They become worn with age and can break. To save you from having to take the washer apart again, it is recommended that you replace it. It is listed as item number 1195967. Click on this link for instructions on how to replace:

I'm not trying to rack up a list of parts on you here. I'm simply trying to cover all bases for you, so you can rule out all possibilities. I hope this helps you. If you require assistance in locating parts, or need further advice, please let me know.

Fills with water correctly, will not go to next cycle

Hi ,, ok lets try some fault finding,,, try putting the washing machine on a no or low temp programme like wool,, or even the fill empty spin , see if it moves then,, if the programmer moves through then spins, i would assume the thermostat is broken,, if it moves through but does not spin , it may be the heating element,, if it does not move at all in any programme i would assume the programmer has a problem

I have a Kenmore Heavy Duty Extra Large Capacity Plus model 110, (16512690), Serial#3808455. It will not fill. When you start the machine it will make a buzzing noise as though an electric motor is trying...

You have two water solenoid valves, one hot water and one for cold. If you switch the hot and cold water hose connections the washer may fill. If it does, the solenoid valve is defective, and you will need to order a new one and replace it. If you take off the back panel of the washer you can follow the hose to the solenoid which has wires connected to it. Did you stick a bucket under the water faucet to make sure water is actually coming out of the faucet when you turn it on?

Water can't fill up

Check and clean out filter inside the connector to the washer

If that is clean
Switch the water off and then start the machine cycle , you should hear a buzzing sound from the area where the inlet hose connects to the washer

If there is no buzzing and the inlet filter is clean you need a new fill valve

WASHER DOES NOT TURN

Sounds like the motor has frozen. Try to work the drum loose from the bottom (empty and unplugged) it just might be jammed from a pen or similar item lodged inside (someone not emptying their pockets). Since its buzzing (its the motor TRYING to move the drum) it has to be jammed from something. Rarely it could be a bearing locked up in either the drum or the motor itself though its unlikely.
