In that case you have either a faulty USB socket or the unit has suffered a voltage overload and has internal chip ic damage

I lost my manual and was curious about the slot on the left side. Looks like a memory chip of some sort can go in there. What is this for? Also when I'm entering in a street address or a point of...

The slot is for a microSD memory card (or an SD card on some models). To add a space between words, press the on-screen key that looks like a sideways square bracket (or underscore with two vertical tabs). It is to the right of the M (at least on the English version of the keypad).

The memory card will let you store more POI and routes than the internal memory can support. Then when full, you can just put in another microSD card for more memory.

The manuals for the Garmin nuvi 205w are available here: .

I hope this helps.

I just installed a 595c gps on my boat. I used it the first time with no problem. The next time I went out, it would not start up. The power comes on but only 2 symbols show up on the left hand side of...

If you know of someone else that has the same setup on there boat you can slide your unit on there mounting system and see what you get. This will tell you if it is the unit or the transducer. I would check my voltage to make sure you have 12 volts at the end of your power cable. If you do not know of anyone with the same setup you can contact our Customer Group and they will be glad to help you out. There number is 800-633-1468.

When turned on the triton 400 gps will read; internal error.... your triton has encountered an unexpected error and must shut down....please wait while your data is saved.

This problem is caused by a corrupted software file on the internal memory. The chip has to be reflashed. If under warranty return the unit to Magellan.

Wont search for sattelites

Does your unit have an external aerial as shown in the pic, If so double check the connection from the aerial into back of the fishfinder, lube with water proof grease (Non-conductive)

You do not say whether it has worked before.

Also need to know where it is located on boat, it must have a view of sky overhead (If internal antennae)

Ext antennae must also be in view of sky, not under "solid" cover.

Garmin gpsmap 295 will not run from internal battery power

I had the same problem. Reluctantly, I removed the batteries and the 8 phillips screws from the the case back perimeter. Be careful on opening. The unit is designed to open from the top and hinge at he bottom to keep the ribbon cables from being stressed. The unit should open nicely and lie flat on the table with the two bottom halves butted against each other. Get a magnifier and ensure the printed circuit board attached to the bottom half has all 3 screws. (I found one missing that has 2 functions - securing the board and delivering battery power. Mine had wedged against a piece of clear was hard to find!!!) I carefully removed the wedged screw and returned to the circuit board left most attach point. Close up the unit and we were back in GPS heaven. Battery power restored!!!! and my $250.00 still in my pocket. Yipppeee.

Have been a big fan of your products but am disappointed in the last 498 that I bought .my boat just went back in the water after repowering it put the unit on ready to go fishing and was unable to find...

BOB you dont say whethert your boat was under repairs or whether the unit was permanently connected.
Soemtimes when the battery terminals are removed on the boat while in storage or reapirs a spike can occur and damage the unit. If the unit has a backup batterty check that its OK. you did not state the brand so its going to be a general answer. If you have spiked the chip then an expensive repair is needed.

Garmin 76CSX - The pointer points the wrong way

The 76csx has an internal magnetic compass. Perhaps you have a strong magnet near the unit that is affecting it?

Internal battery dead,how to replace

The GPS 12 has an internal battery soldered to the board inside the unit.
I have replaced about a dozen of these over the years,
The problem is caused when the unit is stored for a long time without batteries.
The internal battery is not a rechargable.
You have to use a screwdriver in the crack that joins the 2 parts of the case and break the seal to split the case open.
This will of corse render the waterproofness of the unit void.
You then have to unsolder the internal battery from the board and find a replacement.
It is a tagged lithum battery, I can't remember the model at the moment.
Inside you will also notice the surface mount Intel 386 Chip. which is the main processer.
This has nothing to do with the battery but I found it interesting that a chip in a computer from the mid 80s worth over $3000 then, still has a use.

When you have soldered the new battery into place you need to either glue or tape the unit back together. Be careful not to damage the other parts around the battery.

Always keep charged batteries in the unit when not in use.

Hope this helps.

I cannot get any sound from my tomtom one. Not sure if the sound is off or on with the cross through it, have tried both have got on English UK but will not test any voices

Try touching the screen in the bottom left hand corner the volume bar should then show, then touch/slide to the right this should work, if not you might be in the radio mode, tune your radio to one of the channels and see if that works, if so then it might be a problem with the internal speaker of your unit. Good luck.
