I recently purchased an Acer AX3910-U4022. Last night the computer shut down on its own while I was browsing the web. When I tried to turn it back on, I got no picture on my TV. I am using the HDMI out to my television. My guess is that the machine is going into safe mode where the HDMI drivers (presumably) won't be loaded. I don't have a VGA monitor ... is there any way to fix this without buying a cheap monitor or a VGA-HDMI converter (if that is, in fact, the problem)?

You will need a wireless router at your house. Perhaps you already have one of those. If you do, then you need to know what it's name (SSID) is and the password for it.
After you have this information, within Windows in the lower right corner by the system clock, there should be a wireless icon. If you cannot find it, hover over each icon until you find the wireless network icon. Look through the list of wireless access points (wireless router names) until you see yours listed. Click on yours and supply the password needed.
Typically, you can join a wireless network by looking for the little white computer screen located in the bottom right corner of your task bar, near the clock.
More than likely your power supply got fried from a power surge during that storm anyway. You'd be surprised at how worthless most surge suppressors are these days.
Check to make sure that power is reaching the power supply of your unit. If it is and still does not work, then the issue is with the supply that needs replacement. Common malady.
Replace the Fan. Normally on desktops there are two fans. One in the Power Supply and One that sits on top of the CPU Heat Sink. The computer will run hot and shut down if the fan is not running. This can cause damage to the motherboard.
Now some systems the fan will turn on and off as needed. if your system is not shutting down or you are not getting any messages about the fan or having boot issues because of the fan, don't worry about it. It will turn on when needed.
It is unlikely that you have fried anything. When they begin to overheat most computers will turn themselves off to protect themselves to prevent this happenning.
If you leave the laptop to cool down completely while un plugged and then plug it back in it should be fine!
Unless you actuallt get the blue screen of death, don't worry too much....you may have just had too much going on for the ram and processor to handle along with the web traffic in and out of the computer...sometimes causes things to slow down to a crawl and even freeze. Sometimes they work themselves out and sometimes they dont and you have to reset the system.
you might have damaged files on your sd and that is probably causeing the malfunction in which your phone shuts off so if you download from a new site you should be good or get a new sd it might be faulty
