Blotches of black on both sides of paper

I have two AP3800C's the first has started putting black blotches on both sides of the paper, even when printing single side. The other won't load a magenta toner, otherwise it was looking good - I only need one printer so which one do I fix - and how?? Many thanks Benjamin

The black slodges are most likely to be caused by the dev unit dropping black toner. Swap the black devs around and vaccum any loose toner out of the machine. The problem with the other one it that the magenta toner pump could have a fault. I would try this before cleaning the toner tubes.

Thanks Jason

Hi , i think first try the black blotch one , take the other ones black pcu and stick it in this one , you can take the development unit and stick it in there to , it just sounds like a dirty charge roller on the black one , fore the one not wanting to load magenta , is a bit more complicated , it will need to be stripped and the magenta toner supply pipe must be vacuumed , cause it gets blocked .

You might have a leaking drum. Or toner might have spilled in the printer during a cartridge change. if you have a HEPA Vacuum with a soft bristle brush lightly vacuum any spilled toner in the printer and try again.

Black dots/blotches on the sides of printed sheets - whats is the cause and how t to fix it

If you have random blotches on both sides of the sheet, your printer probably needs cleaning, especially in the fuser section. If the fuser is difficult to get at, here's a good cheat developed for HP LaserJet 6 printers: Use a basic graphics program such as Microsoft Paint to draw three solid black rectangles about 2.5" top to bottom, going all the way across the paper (the space in between is not critical - the key is that you go as close to edge-to-edge as you can get). Print out this sheet.

Put the sheet back in the paper tray so it will print on the blank side (usually printed side up). Open up a quick text processor (Notepad in Windows). Type a single space, then print (some text editors won't print a document with no data in it). Dirt in the fuser will get stuck to the black areas on your cleaning sheet. Test your work by printing another copy of " ". Repeat with a new cleaning sheet if necessary.

The printed pages have pink blotches on the right hand side of the paper and horizontal pink blotches down the page

Try cleaning the color or magenta cartridge with rubbing alcohol and look inside the printer to see if there's pooled ink anywhere that is smearing on the paper. Try replacing the print head or cartridge.

Ricoh cl3500N printing with blank streaks in middle of page and faded quality black printing and black ink blotches on sides

The voids and blotches can be a bad black pcu, the voids san also be toner on the glass slat obove the pcu,s there are 4 slats one for each color, on the pcu itself on the upper side is a narrow long opening, the glass slat is above this opening when the pcu is in the printer. It will take a flashlight to see any toner on the glass.
