When you open an Audio/Video(AV) file, you can see only video but cannot hear the sound from the video fro your media player? Assuming the your audio devices drivers are properly installed.
If it is the case you have to install the codec necessary to play the audio from the AV files.
If you are windows OS, download & install the latest codecs "K-Lite Mega Codec Pack or K-Lite Codec Pack" from http://www.free-codecs.com/
You will be able to play most of the AV files form the web.

You need to plug in your head phone or stereo that is at back to the cabinet of your cpu.
If this fails then you also need to install the appropriate driver for your motherboard to feeling sound.
