I've disc locked my DVP3980 and it asks me to enter a password. I've never set up a password to my recolection and don't know what it could be. Thank you for your time, Ian Williamson

Ian, try the password 136900. If that passcode works for you, then access the general set up menu using your remote, and choose the Disc Unlock option.

Hope this helps!!!

Unlock a Philips portable DVD Player Pet 741/37

It worked for my Philips PET741/37:

1. Power ON the DVD player without a DISC inside
2. Press the skip keys in this order (the keys are under the "disc menu" and "stop"): right, left, right, left, right, right, left (YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO TO SETUP MENU, just do this in the "blue screen".
3. It will show a menu with region, now use the arrow keys to select "region" and change to "test 0" (all regions).
4. Press OK to confirm. Enjoy

Open DVD player to all DVD zones

Here's a few things you can try. Please remember to switch your player off and back on again after each thingy you try^^ It saves it on some memory thingy^^

1) Go to Setup page
2) Preference page
3) Press 138931
4) Press up/down key to select region code

or

# Turn On unit
# Press the Setup button on the remote
# Navigate to the Preferences page using the Right arrow key
# Press the Down arrow once to enter the Preference page
# Enter 1, 3, 8, 9, 3 and 1 on the remote
# You will now see the current region code displayed
# Use the Up/Down arrow keys to select the region required or 0 for all regions
# Press the Play or OK button on the remote

if your zone is not saved to your dvd player. then do not switch the unit off and on again. throughout my experiences most require to do so, but since I don't work with a lot of Philips models I can only hope it helps^^

Good luck and let me know^^

Colour problems with dvd recorder model dvp3980

We just called Philips and they instructed us to unplug our DVD player from its power source and plug it back in after 30 seconds...and it worked! He couldn't tell us why this seemed to solve the problem but he did say that he had many people call in regarding this same issue with this model of DVD player, and that this did the trick in most cases.

I recently purchased a DVP3980, could you please advise me where to get the appropriate Scart Lead and Cable and Adapter from.

Scart leads are available just about anywhere try your local Tesco or Asda but dont by the very cheap ones as this will degrade your picture.
