I recently got an error that my computer's setting don't allow me to install the printer. I get all the way through the installation process, and I still can't print. It works fine on my computer with XP, but the Vista computer is having problems.

The Lexmark wireless X6570 printer has been a major headache for me as well. I would also like to throw it out the window and tell Lexmark what they can do with their so-called User's Guide and very user unfriendly user interface.
"I can't remember if I saved that setting, what's it under? The little star? Ok. Oh, yeah right, press the check mark now and then cancel it all."
The Lexmark wireless X6570 seems like it should be easy to setup according to the User's Guide, but it isn't. You can go through the whole setup and get everything working except for a page coming out of the printer. The voice tells you printing has started, you watch the bar move across the screen and the voice tells you the printing is done - but nothing comes out of the printer! So you troubleshoot your network, unplug and replug the printer, fiddle with settings and check the port being used.
"Let's see now, a network printer isn't really a network printer if it has an IP address, because then it's a local printer which is a shared printer connected by a cable to a computer. Have I got this network stuff right? OK, but it doesn't work if I create a new TCP/IP port exclusively for it's use based on the IP address on the network setup print out. Is it a shared printer or do I uncheck that box? Is it a network printer if it's part of a network? Well, even though I'm sharing my internet connection with several other computers through my router, I don't need to use internet connection sharing. I think I get that. It's as clear as mud.
Shortly after customer support downloaded a file and got the Lexmark 6570 wireless printer working, it lost it's infrastructure network settings all of a sudden for some unknown reason.
So then, it was reinstalled with a wireless Laptop running Vista first from an ad hoc network and then back on the infrastructure network. It was printing fine again once the installer looked a bit further down the list of ports past the custom made Local Printer TCP/IP port and found one conveniently named Lexmark and tried that. The Lexmark X6570 was re-enabled on a second computer running XP Professional and then on a third computer on the network running Windows XP Home Edition. No sooner was the third computer printing fine over the network ( "Windows XP Printer Test Page - Congratulations! you have correctly installed your Lexmark 6500 Series on [computername].") when the first computer (Laptop) was having severe network connectivity problems and also couldn't print to the Lexmark X6570. That was fixed and then a second account user on the second computer couldn't get a print out of a webpage. The program kept hanging at 20%. When a notepad doc was tried it would hang at 99%. Then the Copy mode button lit up with a huge number of copies to be printed. Eventually, the second account on the second computer could print but it would often stop near 99% for a few seconds while the progress bar for test pages done from the first account zoomed to 100% with no delay.
"At least I know not to use Lexmark Premium Photo paper for my photos. I bought Fujifilm Premium Photo Paper instead.'Works with ALL inkjet printers' ."
    Lexmark, WTF!!!!!

Are you running xp or vista or other os??? you may need a new updated driver if you have changed to vista. If so, go to lexmark website for your area, and downloads page.
Same for you woody123606, i knowalot of people who hate vista, and are going back to xp becaus enow they have all these issue swith printers and programs that will not work with it. Your printer is only conditioned to work with xp driver. Go to lexmark site online and download a driver for vista for your printer.

I need to hook up my Lexmark Z735 printer to my new Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. How can I do this? My laptop is Vista.

You need to look at the printers manual or the box for the required system use before trying to install it. If it's not compatible with Window's Vista, it will not work.
