1st-how do you have your "cox" cable box [you could have said it was a cox cable box!!] connected. Can you 'get a picture' through the TV without the VCR ? Do that! disconnect the VCR from the line and plug the TV directly to the "cox" box.Does it work? Are any of the cables connected from cox to VCR to TV damaged.? Let me know how you have the three(3) equipments connected.

Reprograming vcr recorder and tv for sec. camera after power outage.

I would unplug all components, wait a few minutes, then plug them in. If this doesn't work, I would check the settings on the VCR and ensure it did not reset to channel 4.

Have a Cox Mini Box. When recording, why do I get a distorted picture from my VCR?

Some devices incorporate Macrovision built into them. You can see them, but it can't be recorded or makes a mess. There are ways around this, but I can't tell you. If you however look around the web for anti-macrovision you should come upon it.

We have a digital tv but an anologue vcr so we bought a strong srt 5430 so we can record through our vcr but are having trouble conecting the vcr and set top box

You need a cable to go between the yellow (picture), red and white (sound) sockets on the strong to the VCR.

Those cables will connect to one of the VCRs AV inputs. You then need to use the VCR remote control to switch from the now defunct analogue tuner to the Line or AV input. Put your TV on the channel you use to watch video tapes. Switch on the Strong receiver. Do the switch to the Line or AV input on the VCR. When your VCR is on the correct input then you will see the picture from the Strong receiver on the TV. You can confirm it is the correct source by displaying the Strong's EPG.

When you come to make recordings, the Strong will need to be left on the channel that you want to tape. If your TV already has an aerial feed and isn't relying on the strong for its signal then you can watch another channel on TV.

For a standard VCR which is what most people have, all you need to do is connect a yellow RCA cable for video from the yellow output jack on the cable box rear panel to the VCR's yellow video input jack on its rear panel. Next connect a white RCA audio cable from the cable box white RCA output jack to the VCRs white RCA audio input jack. You can record a cable show by selecting the LINE input on the VCR and selecting the TV show on the cable box.

Now for playback, connect the VCR to your TV. Connect a yellow video cable from the VCR's yellow output jack to the TV's yellow video input jack. Same for the white audio connection. Select on the TV, the source input for the VCR. Its not complicated and you should not need any other devices for a standard setup with a digital cable box and vcr.

I cant record TV

Proper setting is required. This time i don't know what connection you have, in case you use RF IN, fine tune your VCR's Tuner to the desired channel you wish to record. If you connect via A/V IN, select proper input on your VCR. Good Luck

It seems to me that you have only got one set of RCA Cablec between the TV and VCR ( from VCR Video out to TV Video In), as such the VCR only works in playback mode, you need a second set of RCA cables (from TV Video Out to VCR Video In) then select the appropriate input (Video) for the VCR. make sure to follow the colour coding on the RCA plug / socket arrangement

first you have to check if the problem get solve by conecting the supply sourges(cable dish or ant.) direct to the tv..if the problem get solve then try cleaning the vcr head with a liquid use head cleaner becouse a littel snow means that the problem is a littel dirty head or a broken one..also there is a chance to a mayor problen and in that case yes you have to take it to a tech...good luck if the problem persist when you conect the sourge direc to the tv then check the terminal conector if ist ok then notify you sservices company for the problem..
