I would recommend a good cleaning of the rollers with a damp rag (old t-shirts are great for this). Some canned air to blow out the insides always seems to improve operation.
If this is helpful to you, would you please rate this solution? Thanks!
SOURCE: MFC-240 shows no ink cartridge
Hi all,
I had similar problem, i.e. MFC-240 printing was "forbidden" even if one cartridge was out of ink. This did not make sense if I wanted to print black and white but only cyan is out.
I read about taping the sensor bit of the cartridge to (fool the printer). My solution is instead of using tape (which could require some delicate work), I used liquid paper! Just paint over the transparent spot of the cartridge using the small little brush from the liquid paper bottle cap. Wait til it dried and plug the cartridge back in. It worked!

P.S.: I pulled the power after I finished printing to prevent its auto-wake (every two days or so) head cleaning job which used up internal ink (=expensive). The surprising rattling really annoyed me.

Hi...
Silly question, but I have done this myself. Have you removed the tape from the bottom of the cartridge?
SOURCE: After installing new cyan cartridge, display reads No Cartridge
look at the ink cartridge and and first see if the ink covers the top of the cartridge. there is a little part of the ink cartridge the best way to explain it, is there is a tab,. that tab goes into a sensor. if the tab has ink on it, then you mostly like have a problem with the sensor itself. but if there is no ink, the printer is correct. i have had several people bring printers with those type of problems, and when they bring the cartridge i look at it, and they are practically empty.
thanks
