Portable DVD player PDM 0732

We have a Poloroid portable dvd player that will no longer charge. I don't know if it is the battery or the charger that is the problem. When we plug it in nothing happens. No red light to indicate that it is charging. The unit is dead and does not play. It is only about a year old and has only been used a handful of times.
The serial number is J0600014280004290 and it says manufactured in Septemeber of 2006.

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
