The only way to fix that is to call the company and purchase a new face plate. If you bought it from a store, and it's still under warranty, they MIGHT be kind enough to replace it. I've been fortunate enough that I've been able to establish a rapport with the companies that I've dealt with that they would do this for me. A lot of companies won't though. Best bet, contact the manufacture so you can buy a new faceplate.

I have a pioneer deh p4400 detachable faceplate does not seem to close tight enough goes blank when you touch it lightly press on it and works fine I have cleaned contacts what else
Did you clean the contacts on both the face and the sub-panel? What did you use to clean the contacts with? Sometimes cleaning the contacts with a pencil eraser will work a little better.

hi teresa, you have a problem with the face latch on the unit, or the holding groove behind the detachable face. have the mounting of your unit checked out by an installer as well. check for broken plastic holder section of the units front chassis. if all checks out well then best you have your unit seen to by a technician. cheers.

your not supposed to. if it's broken then contact Black&Decker or buy a new one. Dewalt makes a good one or the multi-master for various things.

This is a option you can disable in the menu, it is meant to make it easier to detach the faceplate when you leave the car

Detachable face
Either the back light lamp is burned out or if it is also a flip face, then you may have a "wire" on the ribbon cable to the flip face that is broken and then you would need to replace the ribbon cable. If it is a flip face then I would strongly suspect that it is the ribbon cable.

Lost detachable face panel
To reduce theft, most car stereos with detachable faceplates are keyed together -- that is, they are not interchangeable. It is unlikely that you will be able to find a replacement faceplate, unfortunately.
