Thanks for your input. Buying a SD card reader is the solution I hoped to avoid.

The easiest way is to purchase an SD memory card reader. You plug it into your usb port and it will show up on your computer as a removable hard drive. You can just drag your photos to the memory card. Prices range from about $10 and up.

How do I download pics from kodaf easy share with sd card

The easiest way to download the photos the camera to your computer, is to remove the SD memory card and insert it into an USB card reader and connect it into the computer's USB port. The computer will see this as an external storage device, you can then open the camera's folder to copy the photos to your computer.

What type of phone is it? Some (most?) phones will not connect to PC etc. without special software. Did you format the SD card before trying to use it.? Using SD? - format SD first before inserting to phone for photo copying. If pic are stuck on SD card, there are SW which can do file recovery on it. Some free. Last thing to consider, what format are pics? Is format compatible w/ printer?

Error message

I had the same problem with a USB drive and a SD card. Both were only recieving 170 files to the root folder before I got this error. The solution was to reformat each using using 'FAT32' as the file system. This basically is a more modern file system that allows more files and cam about after win95. It looks like some USB drives and SD card are origninally formted with basic 'FAT'.

To reformat right click on the drive in windows explorer and select 'Format...'.

Another option if you dont need all the files in the root flder is to create a subfolder however this was not an option for me as my digital photo frame would not handle this.
