My scanner on my f300 printer won't scan

I have a f300 printer/scanner. My printer works, but my scanner will not. I have placed a piece of paper in it and pressed scan, but it won't do anything besides the power button light will flash. I need assistance please!

Same Problem, light flashes and nothing happens. The printer will work, and I can directly copy and print it.
This only began to happen when I got my new mac book pro. The all in one scanner worked perfectly on my old dell.

I'm having this same problem. I had my F380 hooked up to my old iMac G4 for a while, and it worked perfectly fine. I always used Photoshop CS to do my scanning, with no issues. I recently retired the iMac and hooked the F380 to my Mac Book Pro, and scanning won't work at all. I've tried using both Photoshop CS3 and CS4, which promptly opens the crappy HP Scan Pro software, and that's where it seems to hang up. I'm running OSX Leopard, and I've downloaded the two most recent versions of the HP print drivers and software with no luck. I've even tried using the scan button on the F380, and that does nothing.

My f300 no longer scans either. I press the scan button and the on/off light blinks for 20 seconds and that's it. The internal scanning light never goes on and never travels.

My printer/scanner is a Canon MX410 and it works fine except the scanner function is off centered. It is scanning docs crooked. My papers are properly placed so it must be something within the machine. Any thoughts on how I would fix this?

It sounds like the issue is software related. When the light is flashing it is sending the file to the computer but then nothing is happening. You either have not installed the software or you need to uninstall and reinstall.

Both require you to download the most recent drivers - don't use the CD unless you do not have a highspeed internet connection. Just click on the link and enter product name and the OS and choose the most recent full feature software and drivers.

Wow, I wish I would've held off another half-hour or so before making my last post, haha... After installing the latest drivers and software from the HP site, I ran Software Update on my Mac. Sure enough, there was 90mb worth of updated HP drivers, and the DeskJet F380 must have been one of them. After installing the update, I fired up Photoshop CS4, tried to scan from there, and it worked! Seems like an obvious solution, but I guess it's so obvious that you [or at least I] forget to consider Apple's Software Update function.

Well I have the same problem. I went to the link, and I found that the F300 was discontinued. So which software did you use to help operate your scanner?

I just installed my scanner and as soon as it was plugged in both scan and PDF lights are blinking red and when I try to scn it says there is a paper jam but there isn't. What do I do

The scanner/printer is detecting a jam and even the smallest piece of paper will stop the print heads from moving. check again along the corners and paper path and am sure you will see a little piece of paper caught somewhere torn from a larger jammed piece some time in the past. Carefully remove it and reset the printer/scanner.

How do I scan transparancies? With the holder in place on the flat bed the whole frame scans and not the slide.

You need to put a piece of white paper, the same size as your slide on the back of your slide. Your scanner doesn't recognize the edges of the transparancy (it is looking through it), so if you place a white paper on top of your transparancy it wil recognize the edges.

How do i get my scanner to operate - I put a piece of paper on the glass - hit the scan button - then nothing happens - the printer says " PC scan standby" . What do I do next ? Do i need to...

1. Install the MP Navigator EXsoftware located on the disc that came with the printer.
2. Go to Start > Programs > Canon Utilities > MP Navigator EX > MP Navigator EX.
3. Select Photos/Documents or Stack of Documents.
4. If Photos/Documents was selected, open the top of the scanner and place the document you wish to scan on the glass with the top facing to the left. If Stack of Documents was selected, flip the plastic tray open on the top of the printer and place the stack of papers in the tray.
5. Select the Document Type in the left pane, then click the Scan button.
6. The scanning process should start. When it's finished, select Save to save the document(s) as a JPEG, or select Save as PDF to save it in PDF format.

Hi. I have a dell all-in-one printer. when i try

If you get black pages output from copies there is either light getting to the scanner (from an outside source) or the scanner itself is damaged. Most likely the latter issue. You can try puttnig a couple of extra pieces of paper on top of your scanned document before scanning (place the image directly on the glass, throw a few pieces of paper on top, and then close the cover. If the issues are still present there is a hardware failure with the scanner device itself.

Scanner bar will not move to scan the paper to be copied.

a piece of plastic locks your scanner in place, it is under the scanner up above where the copies come out. It turns 90 degrees.
Maybe some one turned and locked it.
Good luck

My printer will not print

I have a feeling Your Scanner is Locked, Their is a scanner release switch , make sure the scanner swithc hasn't been moved, these move in away that they could accidentally lock the scanner when you remove paper and stuff.
