When the heat cycle calls for gas there is no ignition is my gas valve bad?

I don't know what kind of furnace you have. But most furnaces have some sort of pilot first than after it is proven than the main gas will come on. Either a standing Pilot with a thermocouple. A hot surface ignition or Spark ignition with a flame sensor. Or a direct fire system where hot surface or spark ignitor start first than all the burners send a 1 sec blast of gas which is proven by the flame sensor if it proves the gas valve stays on.....
In what you have said you have 24 volts to the gas valve and it has not lite. then does the gas valve have a pilot tube???Does it have a thermocouple?? Do you smell gas?? If you don't smell gas then the main part of the valve has not opened. The Pilot valve has to open first and prove before the main gas will come on. I hope this helps. If you still need help repost with the name and model # of the furnace.

Does not ignite, no gas getting to unit to ignite. Gas supply is on.

More than likely your gas valve or control board is malfunctioning. You can use a multimeter to check for voltage at the gas valve when the furnace calls for it. In sequence, the IDM will come on, then another click that starts the ignitor which glows, then the next click will be the board sending power to the gas valve. You should have 2 wires on the gas valve, put the meter leads there and when the board calls for the gas valve, you should have 24v at the gas valve. If not, the board is faulty. If you do have the voltage there, the gas valve is faulty and needs replaced. Sometimes you can take a pair of pliers or similar tool and gently knock on top of the gas valve and it will get the valve "unstuck" which can get you some heat if needed. Hope this helps!

Heater will not fire up and i got an error code of 1f. what does that mean?

IF code is Ignition Failure error. A number of parts can cause this error.

Now if you are the handy type and know how to use a Multi Meter you can try to diagnose the problem. You must know your limits, these heaters can be very dangorus and working with them should not be take light heartily. Know when to call a qualified person.

That said if you want to go forward follow these steps.

1. Ensure gas supply shutoff valves are

Ensure that main gas shutoff installed adjacent to heater is open. Ensure that knob

on gas valve inside unit is in on position. If OK, proceed to step 2.

2. Check for low gas supply pressure.

Ensure inlet gas supply pressure exceeds minimum valve indicated on rating plate. If

OK, proceed to step 3.

3. Check for faulty flame sense wiring or

Inspect flame sense wiring. Ensure wire harness terminals are securely fastened to

flame sense and to control module. If OK, proceed to step 4.

4. Check for faulty gas valve wiring or

Inspect gas valve wiring. Ensure wire harness terminals are securely fastened to

spade terminals on gas valve. If OK, proceed to step 5.

5. Check for gas valve failure or gas
valve relay failure

1. Measure voltage across gas valve during trial for ignition. If 24 vac is present and

gas valve does not open, gas valve is defective. Replace gas valve.

2. If 24 vac is not present, gas valve relay on control module is defective. Replace

control module.

Hopefully this will help

I have a bryant gas furnace M#:395cav036055acja. I can hear the gas valve open but theres no gas flow. I can also see the ignitor light and then cycle off after several restarts. Do i need a new gas valve...

The first thing I would do is to shut valve off on gas supply line and remove fitting and nipple that screws directly into the gas valve. There should be a fine mesh screen in the gas inlet. Make sure it is clean and not obstructing gas flow. Use teflon tape and/or pipe joint compound on all threaded fittings when you reassemble. When you have everything tight except the union you can slightly open gas valve to make sure you have gas to that point. After you finish tightening all fitting turn gas valve back on and check for leaks.
You can put a few drops of dish soap on each threaded fitting to check for leaks. If soap bubbles then you have a leak. Repair leak and see if furnace will fire. If you are sure you have gas to gas valve and you can hear valve trying to open but still no flame I would replace gas valve.

Good luck and I hope this helps you some. Thank you

Installed new gas valve. Wired according to instructions with valve. Shows 3 wires coming from igniter to gas valve. 2 tabs on valve above pilot. Burners won't come on.

I need more info to help you out. You need to check if there is anything else wrong with the furnace. But a for the gas valve goes you nee to check if your geting 24 volts to the gas valve. The pilot sensor might be bad. What kind of gas valve do you have. are the three wires coming back to gas valve Yellow, White, and Green. If they are most likly its the flame sensor not the gas valve.

Can't get the gas valve to release fuel when trying to light the pilot. took apart the line and there is gas, but the valve won't release when I press the plunger in. coleman trailer furnace was turned off...

Possible bad gas valve. When a gas valve fails it fails in the closed position. If you cannot get gas out of the pilot light chances are gas valve is bad. Call a service tech for freee estimate. Rus

Honeywell Gas Valve inoperative

Gas valve is probably dead. With the numbers directly off the valve, you may find a place to sell you one. Don't try and repair the valve. Will probably cost as much to by a new one.

Good Luck
