Question about Whirlpool 24 in. GU1500XT - Multiple Color Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Does not Wash

In every mode, water fills the bottom of the washer and the sensor light comes on while the water is heated. Once the water is heated, the sensor light goes out. This is normal operation up to this point.

Instead of beginning the wash cycle, the water is drained and the sensor light comes on and nothing else happens.

It is important to note that this dishwasher has two motors, a drain motor and a wash motor. Since the drain motor appears to work fine, my assumption is that the wash motor is either obstructed by a small object (i.e. glass) or is broken.

However, before buying a wash motor, it would helpful to eliminate any other possibilities.

First check if there was an object that obstruct the motor, try to clean that area, and run again the unit, if the problem was still there, then could be the washer motor was broke.

First try resetting your error code if there is one from your manual, then try the below. Also check to make sure your thermal fuse is good as well then do below.
Try pressing normal wash -heat dry-normal wash-heatdry- normal wash-heat dry- norma wash - heat dry. all the lights should come on. then after a little bit. keep pressing start till disher washer gets back to normal shut down. Sometimes this uses other features and opens contacts that are rarely used and recycles the processor in control panel reactivating stuck contact solenoids. If none of this works your control panel needs replaced cost 100 up to 200 dollars. Will not start bottom of area full of water.

It sounds like the problem could be caused by the fact that the heating element, or the hot water sensor, has failed so that the washer will not proceed with the wash program until the water is up to the correct temperature. You should be able to easily tell if the element is getting hot. You could try manually putting in hot water before the washer fills up with cold to see if the wash then proceeds which will mean that the heating element needs replacement.

HOOVER HOD6615 DISHWASHER CONTINUAL BEEPING AFTER INITIAL RINSE & REFUSES TO PROCEED TO WASH CYCLE WHATS THE PROBLEM?

This could be a safety trigger due to bottom water leak. A anti flood device (polystireen float and micro switch) that switches washer in shut off mode and does not continue until the water leak (pipe or hose clamp) that causes the float to trigger the device. Check the bottom of the washer for traces of water and rectify any leak before the washer will continue.

The dishwasher fills up it starts to spray the water but after 5 seconds it emptys. It then does the other the rest of the wash normally. This happens in all modes.

Check to see if water at the base of the washer has caused the "anti flood system" to trigger. The anti flood device is a polystireene float and micro switch that does trigger (and puts the washer in pump out mode) once water via leak or spill is detected. You can tilt the washer to 45 degrees and check if a small amount of water comes out of the bottom. As you indicate that the washer emptys after 5 sec I do think that the anti flood system is causing this.

SHU 53 MODELS To start test program, press and hold both SCRUB WASH and DELICATE/ECONO program buttons, then turn unit on by pressing ON/OFF button. Initially, control module version # will be displayed (e.g./ ?21? = version 1 with jumper). When wash program buttons are released, lights above them will flash. To end test program, press ON/OFF button. To check each program indicator light, press its button. To check Cycle Countdown display, Refill Rinse Agent light and REGULAR WASH light, press REGULAR WASH button (press Delay Start button to test Cycle Countdown display alone). Cycle Countdown display will show ?88″ when REGULAR WASH button is pressed and ?8h? when Delay Start button is pressed. To start testing, press both the SCRUB WASH and DELICATE/ECONO buttons a second time. When testing has ended, Cycle Countdown display will show a fault using codes below. If more than one fault occurs, code numbers will be added together, (e.g./ ?6? = faults 2 + 4). 0 = No faults detected 2 = Heating fault 8 = NTC (temperature sensor) fault 1 = Aqua Sensor (?Sensotronic?) fault 4 = Filling fault F = Filling fault (display occurs during wash, not test) To check for heater, high limit or flow switch problems, start testing until heating starts. Using a meter with a current coil, measure current going into dishwasher. If current is ~ 11 A, then heater, high limit and flow switch are OK. If current stays at ~ 1.5-2 A, then heater, high limit or flow switch are faulty. If water level switch (f1) has failed (opened), display will show fault code ?4″ and unit will continually fill and drain where testing won?t be completed. If flow switch (e5) has failed (opened), display will show ?0″, water won?t heat (to 150?F) and water won?t stop circulating. If NTC probe (f2/f4) has failed (opened), display will show fault code ?8″ immediately and testing will end shortly after water has started circulating.

I had the same problem. It was a clogged water inlet valve. Packed with sediment. Accessible from the bottom if you have the right tools. Just clean out and replace. Or the valve could be bad.

Dishwasher

I have not heard of or seen this dishwasher but I do know on a lot of dishwashers if the water is not hot enough it will heat the water and the heating light will come on to let you know. On most models if the washer has to heat the water it will prolong the wash time. It may do this through out the wash and rince cycles. dont be surprized if your dishwasher runs 90 min or longer. This is normal for most all dishwashers now. I would read the owners guide and get to know whats normal for your unit.
