HP Officejet 5600 all-in-one onto my laptop with Windows Vista. It has failed and appears to not be compatible with Windows Vista. Is there a software updates that will allow me to use this all-in-one with Windows Vista??

Hi, I just completed this same query this week.

to set up my remote network i followed promts from windows and then had to run my windows xp startup disc on my vista laptop.

After that was complete i had to install the hp printer setup cd onto my vista laptop and connect the hp printer to my router using the ethernet cable. I followed the prompts on the vista as the cd continued to install. then at the end of it all it showed i had correctly installed the printer via wireless and asked me to do a practice print which i did and all seems fine.

I can now print from my vista laptop and my windows xp desktop. I hope this helps

You can go to this HP site to download the Full Feature Driver Software package or order a CD:

Officejet Vista Download

Save the file to your computer and run it from there.

You will need to remove any software you previously installed.

Also note that there are some critical Updates on that same page that should be installed.

hi you can try to run the windows vista compatibility wisard in the control pannel, if it does not work it means that it will not work.

You will need to make sure you choose the correct vista version (ie: normal or 64 bit).

go to control panel,click on printer, then add printer. select hp, then choose hp officejet R65 or R80 in the right hand side. after that u need to change the name to hp officejet pro 1170c. however, it only solve the printer driver , not the scanner. still can't use the scanner.

according to the HP website the alternative driver for your printer for windows vista would be that of the Deskjet 5600

I think you are trying to install the all-in-one software in vista using CD. the CD is not compatiable with Vista. Please download the drivers from the below webpage and install the software.

Go to hp.com. Click on 'software and driver downloads' (on the left of the screen). Next to 'for product:' type in Officejet 5600' and click the >> symbol. Then choose from the list that comes up. When in doubt, choose the first on the list, HP 5605 All-In-One. On the next screen select 'software and driver downloads' again. There you'll see where you can select Windows Vista. CLick on that and sleect, under "Driver", HP Full Feature Software and Drivers.

On the next screen, scroll down and select 'Install Now'.
