You'll just need to reconfigure the router. Hard reset it first. Press the reset button at the back of the router for 30 seconds then unplug the power for 20 seconds then plug it back in.

Using the main computer, open your Internet Explorer and on the Address Bar type http://192.168.1.1

It will prompt your for username and password. Leave it blank on username and type admin on the password

Under SETUP tab, click the sub-tab MAC ADDRESS CLONE
Click on ENABLE and click the button CLONE YOUR PC's MAC then click on SAVE SETTINGS at the bottom.

Now powercycle your devices. Turn off router first and then modem. Wait for 30secs. Turn on modem first, wait for lights to stop blinking then turn onrouter.

That's it. You should be able to go online behind the router and the phone should also work.

How do i connect a 1960 rotary phone up?Which wires do i hook up? I have a blue wire &a blue white wire coming into my building,

The Blue and Blue/white represent the first pair in a multi pair telephone cable. The second pair is orange the third is green and so forth. If this line is active, you will get a dial tone when you place a telephone instrument on this pair (or any subsequent live pair). Notice. If you are hanging on to the pair when the telephone rings - you will experience a 60 volt DC shock. It will not kill you but you may find it unpleasant.

On your Western Electric '500' telephone set, you should have three wires coming out of the original cable, a red, a green and a yellow. Normally, the red and the green will operate your phone on a 'private line' (only one customer on a private line). Try various combinations until you get a dial tone. You no doubt have a private line as there are very few party lines around these days if you are in the USA (and please do not say). Once up on a time, there were "party lines" where neighbors shared a line and they knew the call was for them based on the number of rings. The first customer got one ring, the second customer got two rings and so forth up th as many as 4 rings. When the telephone rang, you listened for the number of rings and answered only if it was your number. Picking up a call that was not your ring was frowned upon though it was not unknown for neighbors to listen in to other neighbors calls. It was like a reality show!

If your 500 has been upgraded with a RJ-11 wire, plug the wire in just as you would any modern telephone. If yours doesn't ring, remove the cover and study the interface. You will find several terminals marked L1, L2 etc. Move the wire you find on a "L" terminal to the various otgher L terminals until it rings when called. You may also have to adjust the spring on the ringer to get it to operate properly.

I hope this information helps you get your 1960 telephone to work.

Sky Broadband Wireless ADSL Sagem Router Errors with Screendumps

Generally speaking if your @ light on the front of your router is not lit then your telephone line is not enabled for ADSL however you will still be able to goto 192.168.0.1 and check this is an example of the screen display

ADSL LINE FAILURE
LINE NOT
PHYSICALLY
CONNECTED

ERROR : Return Code 100

This also can happen if the twisted pair copper wire that is used to send the signal into your router has been disconnected or there is a short outside your house.

NOTE: That even if BT reconnect and complete a silent line test on your telephone line from your house from the Master Test socket behind your faceplate this doesn't mean that you will have a Broadband Signal from your ISP.

Under normal operation you should see the following screen click show statistics, this line is connected at 3.3MB

My DSL Light is not on but my wlan light is on but I can not connect

If your DSL light is not on, that might mean your modem is not connected to your ISP's DSL network. Check the cabling, specifically make sure the telephone cable running from your modem to your telephone socket is plugged in correctly. If that's ok, contact your ISP's helpdesk and ask them to test your DSL connection. It might be a mass outage in your area or a technical issue with your DSL line.

I use AOL as my ISP, with British Telecom supplying my telephone line rental. On Friday 2nd my internet connection kept dropping out, and then eventually stopped connecting altogether. My original router...

If BT tested the phone line is OK but did AOL test the connection to the Netgear router and get the IP address of your Netgear router.
The phone connection is OK but the ADSL connection from the telephone exchange may not be working, that is why you are not getting an ADSL light.

After a night of thunderstorms, the router is not working properly. Mainly the SYNC light is out. Only power and WLAN are On. Please help

Lightning may have damaged the router and / or the telephone line. Check the line for a dial tone by connecting it to a standard phone. If no dial tone, call your telecoms provider to restore the line. If there is a dial tone, expect the worst for your router. This happened to me a couple of weeks ago and it cost me a new router. I have since put the line through a surge protector.

Does it make a difference if i use a wire splitter? does it make a difference of the order the phone pins are connected in the wire splitter?

What are you doing? Are we talking about telephones (RJ-11) or are we talking about routers and ethernet cable (RJ-45)?????

RJ-11 will fit into a RJ-45 but a RJ-45 will not fit into a RJ-11. Translation, your telephone wire will plug into your router/computer port but your Ethernet wire will not fit into your telephone jack.

If you are working on a telephone, as long as you have dial tone on the other end, it doesn't make a big difference. You should have a polarity checker to insure proper polarity but even if it is wrong, most phones will work most of the time. Get a polarity checker at Radio Shack for about $10.00

If you are working on a router ... well, it is no wonder your network will not work. You cannot split one RJ-45 port into two "Ports" using a telephone RJ-11 splitter. Never, Never, Never, plug your router cable into a telephone jack (RJ-11). Yea, Yea, Yea, I know, I just said a RJ-45 will not fit into a RJ-11 but if you have a telephone cord pluged into the router, guess what, 60 Volts will smoke it. When the phone rings, it rings with 60+ volts and will smoke any computer device it can smoke looking for ground.

If you need more computer ports, get a bigger router or bigger switch or bigger hub or get a wireless router to accomodate your wireless devices.

I hope I have answered your question.

Restarting,

Hi Brightside
A couple of things you could try.
1) Switch the router off at the mains power socket or disconnect it. Then leave it off for 5 minutes before reconnecting it. This can sometimes reset things and may clear the problem.
2) Make sure that the connections to and from the router are secure. Unplug them and plug them back in again.
3) Make sure that the telephone line is not faulty and has not developed an internittent adsl connection. You may need the phone company to test it for you.
4) Sometimes connection cables can pick up noise from other equipment, especially if in close proximity to mains wiring. This can cause problems. Try moving the connection cables to a different position. Sometimes only a few inches is enough. Laptop power units for exmple, can be a real source of noise.
Good luck

How do i configure my Belkin router to work with Sky broadband?

I'm not into hacking what I cannot find on ISP's sites

From what I can gather from the Sky Broadband site reading the manual installation procedures -- the process is pretty much automatic when it comes to installing their equipment leaving no clues as to how they configure it. What is the model if the Belkin router? Options probably exist to attach your device to theirs either as a router (establishing a second network behind theirs) or an access point joining as a member of their network - meaning there would would be two wireless networks in either case in the house (as there are no indications I have found on the site that the provided the sky router can be configured in any way such as turning off wireless). At least according to the documentation the sky router's wireless is running WPA-PSK security / encryption which is good -- and the documentation for attaching non-sky wireless adapters appears to be documented here.
