Whirlpool Gs5shaxnb02 Ice maker

Ice maker just stopped making ice. Door switch is fine. Sensing light on right side is on when door is open and left hand ice bin door paddle closed. When door switch closed the light goes out and no led or indicator light works. Any idea what the problem may be? my side by side ice maker just stopped working yesterday. The water works fine the fan works fine but there just isnt any ice being made at all. What could the problem be and is it worth fixing? The rest of the fridge works great so i would really like to be able to just get a part and fix it. thank you

I have the same problem and I have found that the rubber tube coming into the icemaker top right side of the icemaker has an ice shaft in it , I'm assuming the ice prevented the water from getting into the tray as normal to make ice so I broke off the ice in the tube and picked it out of the little dish there and now I am waiting to see if that worked. If I don't come back to this forum then it worked and I'm a genious.

Is there water in the ice trays?if not try pushing the test button normally underneath the unit. possibly it will initiate a reset and start working. sometimes a limit is not activated when it should be.

the most comon problem is the ice machine in the freezer actuates at low teperatures. actuation is when the unit goes into harvest the ice. if your freezer is not aciving low enough temperature the ice machine stops working ' check to ensure the condensor under the fridge is not pluged with dust .Also make shure there is adiquit air flow around the ice machine. hope this helped someone .

Ice maker sotp making ice / red light blinking

J, As you open the freezer door the LED on the right should flash 2X with a pause repeatedly. When you hold the left side emmiter down the light should stay on steady. If you have this, you know the optics are good unless the ejector blades are not home. First thing to check is where the ejector blades on the ice maker are parked. They should be resting in the 2:00 position. If they are not, you could have a broken module. If they are in the 2:00 positon the next thing to check would be the fill tube. You want to make sure it is not frozen over. You can disconnect it from the back and see if you can blow through the line or visually inspect it. If all of the above mentioned check out, jump start the ice-maker. Remove the quarter inch screw holding the harness cover on the right side. Remove the harness cover. Pull the ice-maker straight out but be carefull not to smash the emmitter flap on the left side. Leave the harness connected. Get a jumper wire with the ends stripped apout a 1/4 inch. Unplug the refer and place the jumper in test holes T&H. Leave the jumper in and place the ice maker on the shelf where you can close the door. Close the door and plug the refer back in. Wait 30 seconds and open the door. The ice maker should be cycleing. Pull the jumper and place the module cover back on. Put the ice maker back in the rails. It should fill at approx the 12:00 position. Let me know how you make out. Catriver.

Ice maker not working. Have replaced the Ice Maker and still not working. Is there a fuse for the ice maker controller or reset button? I have the Whirlpool Conquest Gold Series between 8 and 10 years...

Roger... this is going to sound way to simple. The ice maker power is cut off by the door switch. Check the door switch. 1/2 of the switch powers the light and the other half powers the ice maker when the light is off. That stupid little door switch has tripped me up several times and I work on them!!! There is one locking tab on ONE side of the (usually white door switch to pop it out of the chassis. It will have 3 terminals on it. One is a common wire, one powers the light (door open / plunger extended) and the other one powers the ice maker (door closed / plunger depressed)

Don't buy a controller yet!!!!

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Whirlpool side by side Ice maker has quite making ice

Open the freezer door and on the right side , make dure the slide is in the on position . If the red light flashes twice , then pauses , flashes twice , pauses , consistently , then close the flap door on the left side of the freezer . The light should go off . If these tests work , then the cut-off optics are good , and the icemaker needs replaced , due to the cubes not dumping . Also check the coils under the front of the refrig , to make sure they are clean of dust , lint , etc.

Ice maker quit working

good sign its flashing , woth door open depress the left side flap oppiste the blinkin light. does the light then go solid red??? i fso its an indication that the electricl eye is operating ok .
theres a screw 1/4 in. along the right side underneath the icemaker itself, youll need to removeit and the cover its holding down. you can then slide the ice maker assy foward and out of machine,There will be another litle tab along loeft side uder ice maker youll need to depress to ppulll unit out. pry off the white cover from front of the ice maker assy itself and have a look at the main gear 2 in. round, is it broken off, or on its way top breaking( sometimes the tabs that hold it on to the ice maker module itself break preventing operation, if this is the case youll need to repalce the ice maker assy.

The ice coating usually means that your door was left slightly open. Did the ice maker work after you cleaned up the ice?
