help!!! my daughter bought a vivitar vivicam and it keeps telling me to format the card, it says card full (it's a brand new card) and then when we try to take pics it says format card, we go thru the format but not working .....HELP

I found a user manual online says max memory is 256mb on this camera. Wont recognize anything bigger.
