Question about IRISPen Express

Open Question

Output worsens every time I scan

Dear Expert,

I have an IRISpen executive and an iBook G4.

Here is my problem: I calibrate the scanner, scan the text, and then the output is sort of acceptable. Then I do it again, and the output worsens instead of getting any better. It's like my scanner has a negative learning curve... what do I do wrong? The scanner is basically useless.

Thank you very much for your help!

My canon lide 700f will not calibrate to scan a 35mm film

For those having the "Executes calibration. Pull out the film and place the Film Adapter Unit at Frame 1." issue and cannot calibrate the scanner for NEGATIVE FILM, it took me ages to figure out how to solve it.
Solution: calibrate the frame, WITHOUT any film, adapter plug and placed in frame 1, and proceed to do the calibration WITH THE SCANNER COVER OPEN.
Before I tried everyhing, install new drivers for Windows 8.1, MP Navigator, and nothing happen. Now it works like the first day. Hope it helps! it certainly helped me.

Sometimes when it is scanning the light moves really slow. It is almost like it is moving back and forth. It does this on small items and large items I am scanning. but not all the time

Hello,
You might have to calibrate the scanner from time to time. The software included should have some type of calibration options. Without calibration, the scanner's "scanning capabilities" deteriorate over time.

Black and white scanning, as our scanner scans in colour, I would like to know how to scan in Black in white so to have smaller files. Thanks Sonia

You must select TIFF format for B&W. TIFF G4 format is the smallest. JPG offers both grey and Color outputs.

Downloaded all the drives and still can use it as the message:"execute appliation" keeps poping up

You need a scanner application such as Adobe Photoshop or other program.

Cannon has one for your scanner at this link.

CanoScan Scanner can not complete a scan

Double-check all connections and try another port if possible. There may also be damage to cables or pins. Do you have another cable to try? Do other devices work in the same port?

Scan coming in all black with DocketPort 485

The first thing that you should try is to calibrate the scanner. If you don't have the calibration paper you can use a blank white 8 1/2 x 11 sheet. This should clear it up. If it fails calibration after repeated tries you most likely have broken the lens or the image sensor is no longer working. If that is the case then there isn't much you can do i would suggest contacting the manufacturer and hoping that unit is still in warranty.
