Question about Mag Innovision LT776s 17" LCD Monitor

HDTV on Mag LT776s

Is there some reason I can't display HDTV from my Dish receiver on the Mag LT776s monitor. I'm using an HDMI to DVI cable from the rcvr to the monitor. The receiver is set to output 720p HD video. Seems like it should work into the DVI input but I get no video. After connecting, I turn the monitor on and get the 'lost signal' box for a second or two then nothing. Can't get menu to come up. Monitor works fine when connected to computer through a VGA-DVI cable. Thanks.

Using with a laptop

Connection the monitor depends on the connections you have out of your Toshiba laptop.

The monitor has both VGA and DVI.

If the Toshiba has a VGA out, all you need is a VGA cable available online, computer or electronics store.

If the Toshiba has an HDMI out, you can connect it to the DVI on the monitor with an HDMI cable and an HDMI to DVI Adapter.

You can also use USB out with either a VGA converter or a DVI converter (go with DVI for the better picture). Converters can be found online at Amazon, you may also need a standard male to male DVI cable to use with the converter.

How to switch from analog to digital mode

Any contemporary monitor is able to switch analog/digital mode automatically if connection from signal source to monitor is set up properly.

Connect digital output from your graphic card to DVI input of the monitor. Disconnect any other signal cables from monitor and switch on both devices (PC & monitor). Wait a while. Monitor checks its inputs and a activates digital DVI, because it is only one active input on it.

If none picture excluding error message of monitor is displayed, go through these steps:
1) Check whether your monitor is set for automatic input selection. If monitor buttons have no response try to use analog input to activate screen (any picture, desktop background...) and then get monitor menu access by pressing menu button.

2) Find out what connector type has your graphics card in PC. Possibilities are: DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort and some their options. See Wikipedia for connector look if you are not sure.
Remember that blue D-SUB (VGA) connectors are analogue and you cannot activate digital mode through analog VGA cable.

3) Use appropriate cable to connect monitor to PC.
Example: Your PC has HDMI output. Use HDMi-to-DVI cable. Your monitor input is DVI and common DVI-DVI cable is not suitable in case you have PC with the HDMI.
Note that DVI-to-DVI, DisplayPort-to-DVI etc. cables are available. You must buy right one.

Be aware that "Auto" button is inactive in digital mode of monitor.

Can i connect a dvid cable from the monitor to my flat screen tv hdmi to watch videos from my computer? Thank you Martin

the Flat Screen TV if has, a HDMI input, also has VGA Input.

You must choose :HDMI or VGA, if HDMI The VGA board must Have HDMI Connector, and you connect a HDMI cable to the TV.

The HDMI is a digital signal input/output, VGA is Analog Signal. You must have Signal Converter if you Use the 2 signals

My Acer P205H shows up for 1-3 seconds before showing a black screen. Connected DVI Cable but is there a need to connect vga too?

Depending upon the video port/s you have on the graphics card, you need to connector one video cable, either the DVI or the 15pin DSub to the monitor.

My apple mini mac (no intel) hook up mag monitor 780

The Mac Mini has an adapter plug, DVI to VGA.
If you use the adapter and a VGA cable to the monitor there is not a noticeable difference.

Just be sure to know the resolution maximums of the MAG monitor before you think its the Mac.

Mag monitor doesn't display bios post

I have no experience with the DVI links because such technology is still unavailable here in Argentina. We have DVI video cards but finding a suitable DVI monitor is another (long) story.
I think that your card (that has 2 DVI ports) is initializing one port first (the primary one) and then, when windows starts, it initializes the other and outputs video from both ports.
Try connecting the monitor in the other DVI port.
If your card has a VGA output, the VGA gets initialized first.

Monitor

Check the video cable at both ends to make sure it is connected properly.
Move the cable around near the ends and chances are it will look normal. If so then you have a broken wire inside the video cable. A common thing and easy to get another cable.

Mag Monitor LT776s 17 flat

Sounds like an inverter problem. If the power supply is internal replace the capacitors coming out of the voltage regulators. These are usually 1000mf and/or 470mf. If that doesn't do the trick look up the numbers on the 8-pin chips that drive the secondary transformers on the inverter to see if they are getting the right voltages.
Good Luck!
