I have a full paper tray (and have tried it half-full), but the display reads "[no paper] Add Paper". I've taken the tray out repeatedly, ensured that all the guides are tight, but no luck. It will print single sheets that I feed through the single sheet slot, but not from the tray.
paper tray is full. message reads, 'no paper add paper'. I have shut everything down, turned printer off/on, unplugged/replugged etc. Used different paper, less paper, more paper. Same result

Make sure you inserting the paper not deep inside just insert and stop it when you feel any resistance .and try to print something. If it is print then well otherwise you have to show it service center.
Your paper sensor is damaged, replace your paper sensor.

chek paper sensor, he is a small plastic peiece near thne paper feed roller. you can found it when you remove tray and look at the bottom side of ptinter. Sensor must be able to move free (up and down)
First why is the tray set for size A4 Paper. That is metric size paper for oversea locations. Should be set for 81/2"x11, or 11"x81/2.. is there any paper stuck behind the 1st tray? are the guides that hold the paper in place in the draw snug up aganist the paper in the draw. is the bottom sheet of paper in the stack/rem of paper benton the edge. All sheets of paper in the draw must be flat.
I had the same problem, what you need to do is ruffle up the paper abit dont put it in so neat , for some reason the sensors are notrecongnising the paper (dont know why) i have used the same before...
I've had this happen to my scx4521f a few times. I think I had too much paper in it. Or maybe it was poorly loaded paper. Take the stack of paper out and turn it around so you have no dings or dents on the inward facing side. You need to make sure that the paper is stacked evenly. Good luck. And now I will post my problem.
i would try clening the paper feed tires and roller and if that dose not work i woudl replace them.also pull the paper tray out adn look in top of the printer where the paper feeds out of the tray to see if the is a peice paper is blocking the sensor that reads that the printer has paper.
