Question about Sony BRAVIA DAV-HDX267W Theater System with Wireless Speaker Kit System
Hi, I purchased a dvi to hdmi cable to route my mac to my bravia 32" monitor. I also purchased an XTREMEHD switcher so I could have more than one input to my monitor. My hdtv cable box works (hdmi connection) and my Sony Bravia surround sound works (hdmi connection) both independantly
I cant get the surround sound to work when Im watching tv...that is, only the tv speakers work and the surround sound speakers dont...when Im watching a dvd, the surround sound speakers work and the lcd tv speakers are somehow disabled...is there a setting somewhere that can correct this? I've tried a few but cant figure it out...HELP!
My hdtv cable box and sony bravia surround sound/dvd player both work going through the hdmi switcher...but when I try to connect my Mac computer through the switcher (using a DVI to HDMI connector) or directly to my Sony Bravia LCD monitor, I get nothing...is there a setting for this on the Bravia TV that I'm missing???

The fiber optic port on back on your bravia tv is only for when your using a over the air antenna and watching local atsc channels in your local market. You need to run the fiber optic from your hd cablebox if it has one or your hd sat box if it has one. If you don't have a set top box with the fiberoptic port on it you can use a digital coax cable from the cable or sat box to sound system. The only other way to get sound if you don't have a cable or sat box is to run the red and white rca audio cable from the tv to the sound system and got to the audio setup on tv and turn the tv speakers off and you might have to adjust the audio to fixed instead of variable.

Like above, use an optical connection (need fiber optic cable) or a coaxial connection (single RCA cable). HDMI might also work, but I personally haven't checked. Connect the audio outs from the cable box to the audio ins on the home theater. The TV will only need a video connection from the cable box, as well as one from the home theater (for DVDs, onscreen menus).
This discussion can help you set up the universal remote.
