Question about Kodak EasyShare M853 Digital Camera

Ruined Screen My friend's screen is ruined. When it's off you can see some damage or something on the screen. When I turn it on I get this. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c386/Judas_Iscariot_X8792/Camwithbrokescrean.png Also the lens doesn't "grow" out like it should when you turn it on. It hasn't been dropped in water, nor has it fallen to the ground and broke that way. Does anyone know if this can be fixed. I also don't know if this cam is under warranty.

My camera has a black spot, which you can see when the camera is off, and then a white screen with lines all over it which you can see when the camera is on in addition to the black spot.

This is actually the second camera i got of this type (Kodak MD853). The original i got Christmas 2007. After a few days I had the same problem as I have now with the new one (black spot, white, lined screen). So i went out and got the one i currently have now. It was ok for over a year and now its busted.

I too, didn't drop my camera or get it wet.

Kodak has a web site where you can enter the serial number and check warranty status, if it is less than a year old and has been registered it is possible it will be covered. This is just a guess on my part.

I dropped my camera and the screen is ruined. Can I replace it?

These are great cameras and easy to repair. You can find a Screen cheap
on Ecrater. Just search for LCD DMC-TZ5. I would go with an original screen that
has its backlight attached already and not an aftermarket.
Before you repair make sure your lens is still good otherwise you may
also have to buy a Lens. A hard drop could have damaged your lens also.

Ice tea spilt in digital camera

Once a camera has liquid damage to it, rice isn't going to help. The contacts and everything are ruined unfortunately. Not saying you can't try rice, go ahead, but it probably won't work. Good luck.

Sd800 new lcd, displays all white

Sounds like the LCD ribbon cable is not seated properly in the connector. Did you unlock the cable before disconnecting the old one and then lock down the new one? Try taking it apart and putting it back in again.

Is there any damage to the ribbon cable or the gold contacts at the end of the cable? If so, the LCD is ruined and not useable.

If you like we offer an LCD installation for only $25 if you already have the LCD. Google search "digital camera parts", we are first on the list: Darntoothysam com

If we can help please let us know!

Fe-300 olympus viewing screen is ruined. is this a replaceable component, if so, at what price.

Yes, it is replaceable depending on your ability. Search ebay for FE-300 LCD or for an as-is FE-300 camera with a lens problem but a good LCD.

Repairing Sony H7

I HATE TO SAY THIS, BUT DROPPING IT IN SALT WATER IS ABOUT LIKE THE BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH ON YOUR COMPUTER. SALT WATER BEING VERY CORROSIVE WILL, IF NOT HAS RUINED ANY WORKING PARTS AND CIRCUITS IN THE CAMERA. DRYING IT DOES NOT REMOVE THE SALT AND THE DAMAGE WILL BE TO SUCH AN EXTENT THAT REPAIR WILL BE ALL BUT IMPOSSIBLE. THERE JUST ISN'T ANY FIX FOR SOMETHING LIKE SALT WATER. I'M SURE THAT INSERTING THE BATTERY MOST LIKELY SHORTED OUT CIRTCUITS INSIDE THE CAMERA. THERE JUST ISN'T MUCH HELP HERE EXCEPT A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR IF YOU COULD FIND ANYONE WHO WOULD EVEN WORK ON A SALT WATER DAMAGE. WATER AND CAMERAS JUST DON'T MIX.

Here's some examples of how to do it on several cameras. The biggest problem would be acquiring a replacement screen at a reasonable price. Suggest getting it from a broken camera from ebay, but with a stated working LCD.

HP photosmart R707 camera does not turn on and charge

if you want to turn it on do a firmware reset:
To do a firmware reset, open the battery bay, remove the battery and the SD card, and then insert a paper clip into the tiny hole in front of the little "+ -" sticker on the battery door. Hold it for 6 seconds, and remove. After this reinsert the battery, and the turned it on this should allow you to do the update

Lcd screen comes up in spots

Once your LCD has gone blotchy, that means its probably time to get a new one. Water has either leaked inside and ruined it or there is damage in the wiring. As for opening your camera, once all screws are out, it usually a matter of clips on the inside that snap the 2 halves of the camera together. I don't own this camera so I would suggest using a small flat head screwdriver and gently prying around trying to find the clips.
