Question about Pioneer CD Receiver - DEH-P470MP - CD/MP3 Player 2005 Model

RCA jacks not working DEH-P470MP

I recently installed a pioneer DEH-P470MP. It works great. I ran all wire to hook up my amp. Everything is new. I pluuged the RCA's into the radio and the amp. There is nothing coming out of my subs. I tore everything down and reinstalled with a new kit and still nothing. Could it be that my amp does not have a proper ground? Any other suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

Does the amp turn on when the deck is turned on ? is the ground hooked to the body of the car to bare metal w/out paint ect ...under it ? you may want to take it to a installer there are many things it could be they can also test your rca outputs if thats the problem. curcuit city is a cheap place to have your equipment tested if you live close to one

How can i test my rca output jacks with a test light? pioneer deh p3100ub. hooked up spkr, nothing. tried one rca plug to white(lt) and then red(rt). Unit has 4 rca jacks, 2 for subwfr and 2 for front...

:) the rca jacks have to be connected to an amplifier,, their signal is too lay to even light a bulb.. you have to connect it to a car amplifier and then from the amplifier to the speakers..

Just so you'd know,, once your deck plays and you hear music on your speakers through your normal speaker wires,, RCA jacks work..

Ok you have 4 jacks,, 2 subs and 2 front.. These should connect to a preamp,, which takes 4 inputs and allows you to equalize or adjust how the music should sound,, now from the pre-amp,, it runs to an amplifier,, thats powers the subs and another that powers the speakers.. Some amps have 4 inputs so you can use one amp for your subs mids and heights..

for example a basic music system is

1 cd player
1 pre amp
1 amplifier (4 inputs, 4 channel out)

you bridge 1+2 and connect this to 1 12" double coil sub woofer

the next 2 connect to 2 mid speakers example "rockford or ev 5 / 8 " and 2 tweeters for heights..

Thats a kicking tricked out basic car audio system,,,

Hope that helps you understand how it works..

Pioneer DEH-P2900MP head unit

There is no power from the rca jacks. Option 1; connect the speaker wires directly. Any aftermarket auto manual (Hayes, Clymer) with wiring schematics will let you know what wire is what in the dash. Option 2; RCA jacks output to an amplifier. There is no power coming from the RCA jacks. They have to be used with the amp. If you chose to use the normal speaker wires, be aware that these radios do not like stock speakers or wire. If you take the time and money to replace all of it, the head unit will last much longer. If you choose to use an amplifier, it will burn out fast unless you replace the speakers and wires immediately.

blue and white wire on a pioneer is usually the power antenna wire, most people use it as the lead for power to turn on the amp that is installed, the amp should be hooked up to the RCA jacks on the back of the player to the input RCA jacks on the amp. then the outputs vary, some amps are bridgable which means that you can hook up one speaker to both output speakers this will almost double the watts to the speakers. you must know which side would be positive and which side negative to set it up like this. also important is it a two or four channel amp. this all matters. if you can provide more info I can assure you the best hookup possible for premium sound.

Subwoofer instalation

Even if your JVC doesn't have outputs for a subwoofer you can hook it up with the a speaker wire to RCA converter. You just spice your rear speaker wires to this device then connect RCA's to your amp. I've used them before... works great. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Speaker-to-RCA-Line-Level-Converter-Adjustable-High-Low_W0QQitemZ130143832174QQihZ003QQcategoryZ38636QQcmdZViewItem
