Hey guys, I purchased one of these radios new recently. I did one of the mods posted on CBTricks.com to expand the frequency range. I'm having trouble getting the swr's down and it transmits poorly. I had it plugged into my Wilson 1000 mobile that worked fine with my other radio. I also pluggged it into my Antron 99 base antenna with poor results. The modification went smooth, I don't know what to look for next, any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Open up casings turn up vr 14 at back of rig pcb am power horseshoe should kick out much more power transmiting done same with mine works super dont now about swr check pl plugs make sure your soldering is up to scratch or buy some mini 8 coax cos rg 58 is wash
Can't help you there. It's most likely that you screwed the modulator up by extending the frequency range. I used to work for Galaxy and I know what happens to a radio when amateurs try to modify them (no offense). If you modify a high power radio such as your Super Star, you're bound to have modulation and SWR problems. In expert advice, never do amateur radio modifications to a high power radio. If you want a more versatile radio, get a Galaxy DX 2517 CB base station. The DX 2517 has PA/FM/AM/SSB/USB/LSB/CW modes, and bands A-F, and a frequency range from 25.615 to 29.205 MHz. The Galaxy DX 2517 has modifications that can be done right at the factory, they are optional however. The only thing I find annoying with the DX 2517 is that it's bulky, it leaves no room for any competition. When it was designed, the engineers left space saving out of the question.
Anyway, Good luck

I did the extra channels mod that you use a switch and connect pin 12 and 13...to get 28.300-28.500....it doesnt work...well....it works if you put the band switch on F....instead of D...and it's like having the I band...weird
