If your dryer doesn't work at all, it could be because of problems with:

    Power from the house
    Door switch
    Thermal fuse
    Wiring

    Power from the house

    Check
to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? If
you plug something else into the outlet, does it work? If not, check
for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.

    Door switch

    If
the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer
won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is
inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need
to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch.

    Thermal fuse

On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse (a heat-sensitive fuse
that blows if the dryer overheats) mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse is about an
inch long. It's usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing.

If the fuse has blown, it has no continuity. When this happens, your
dryer either just stops heating, or it doesn't work at all. Be sure to
inspect the venting/heating system before replacing the fuse to put the
dryer back into operation. (You can't re-set this type of fuse.)

    Wiring

    Often
the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the
connection breaks. In this has happened to your dryer, you need to
replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which
    the wire is attached.

Dryer heats up for a few minutes and then quits but dryer still runs

Hello

When the dryer heats for few minutes and then it won't work it means that the thermal fuse is bad and needs replacement. This part is located on the blower wheel housing inside the duct, you can also check this fuse for continuity before replacing. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Whirlpool estate electric dryer model teds680eq1 starts spins heats up then quits 15 minutes later

The operating thermostat has probably failed. When the dryer haets up, it gets too hot and the high limit thermostat turns the machine off. After it cools down, it will start, again.

Dryer heats for 3 minutes, flame quits

the flame is suppose to cycle on and off. If the flame ran continously you would have a fire. And please don't use the top of it for anything such as clothes piles. Dryers need to be free of clutter on top. I know it may be hard to do but do it and your dryer will last you. Good Luck. Whatever you jumpered reverse it ok!

Quits heating

umm. what was original problem that made you change coils to begin?? no heat i would imagine.dont rush to judgement thatyour fix didnt work, if your running the dryer empty to test your repair, its quite possible that the dryer is going to heat to desired temp quickly, and take a while to cycle back on. throwsome wet clothes in machine and test it then.

Kenmore Dryer works for about 20 MINUTES, not seconds

SD, doesn't sound like the same problem. Yours sounds more the like motor kicking out on overload and when it cools down you are able to start it again. The thermal fuse and high limit TCO are non resettable so you can rule them out. You are going to have to check some things out. Make sure the rollers and pulley are not binding. The blower wheel is not binding. These things will cause a drag on the drum and put a heavy load on the motor. Catriver...post back
