Hi there! 1998 Boxter battery died over winter and now radio needs to be reset. I do not have codes...what do I do. Tks!

Unfortunately they is no way round this problem. sorry you will have to bite the bullet and pay the $75

You have to visit a VW dealer, They will remove the radio with a special tool and enter the radio's serial number into VW's data system. This will retrieve the code. If you have owned the car from new, the code was on a tag in the owner's manual. It may still be there even if it is a used car.

The code in the Glove box is just the serial number to the stereo, It is not the unlock code itself. Call a Honda dealer and give them this number. They should give you the code for free. They did for me.

I had a similar problem. The speedometer didn't work. This is going to sound a little strange, but, at some point the battery died. When the new battery was put in, all of a sudden the speedometer worked again. Can't explain it, but it's true. Maybe just disconnecting and re-connecting the battery would help you, BUT BE CAREFUL about the radio. When the battery is disconnected (or dies) you have to put the radio code in again to use your radio. Make sure you have the 4-digit radio code before you disconnect the battery. If you enter it 3 times and fail, google what to do then.

You should be able to enter the 4 digit code via the radio. If the radio has been replaced, you may need to recover the radio's serial number: Porsche Boxster: Online Lost Radio Code Recovery Tool

dealership will have yor code you will need your VIN number handy call a local lexus dealer ask for a radio lock code it is free by the way they will try and charge you dont let them

a radio repair shop will recode it for about £15 $25
