a window shall open and DISABLE all the items that are being run at START UP

More over have you tried installing a Anti-virus.Cause sometimes Virus make the computer slow.
, as a tip De-fragment your hard drives time to time.if virus has hit your computer try installing a fresh copy of windows and then installing Anti-virus .let me remind you when you install a copy of windows do not attempt to open any drive cause there are auto-run viruses. so you first clean your computer then go to other drives clean and safe.

A slow computer could becaused by a number of things - 1. InsufficientRAM memory - if your computer has less than 512Mb of RAM then increase it to atleast 1Gb of RAM. 2. Harddisk maintenance is required at least once a month to keep it functioningefficiently. Runthe following programs - Disk Cleanup -removes temporary files that are no longer used and to recovers hard diskspace. DiskDefragmenter to make fragmented files into contiguous files and thereforethe hard disk access is faster.
