Question about Projection Televisions

1 Answer

I have a 17yr old 27" Pro Scan TV that seemed to just stop. Before I went on vacation, it was working fine. I returned a week later and nothing. I first thought it was the remote, then I tried turning it on manually and got no response. I just looked for a reset botton of some kind but found nothing. What should I do?

Dear,
was you plugged the tv in on condition last time..
there may be some power abnormal conditions...
if you haven't do this then its ok. was something hit your tv.. was it fell down .. these are the main reasons that its not switching on ..
if you can check the power cable.. cable connector.. your switch board for power there..

Sounds like the STK730-130 IC needs replacement. You only need one for your model. Its available from www.tvrepairworld.com its listed under the Integrated Circuits category.

TV wont turn on, makes buzzing noise and shuts off

I have two RCA HD52W59 TV's. I have had one for 3 years and one 4 years. The one I have had for 4 years is giving me the problem. Last week the tv turned off while watching it. It wouldnt come right back on. 10 minutes later we tried and it worked fine. the other night the kids were watching and it turned off and smelled like something burning. I tried turning it right back on and got no power at all. I tried to turn it on two days later and it made a buzzing noise and the green light went out. Never did get a picture, no powering up on the screen. Any ideas? Don't want to spend alot of money. Really loved the TV hope it isnt junk now. Better yet I hope the same thing doesnt happen to the other one I have.

According to Sharp it is a software problem. Engineer came, installed software update ,10 minute job.....TV worked fine for 1/2 day unfortunately: Then images turned black and white in all channels TV turned itself off, and stanby and OPC buttons started flashing. When TV came back on its own 10 mins later , screen had 2 large square staines superimposed in image (as if it was a burnt screen)...Engineer will be back next week...all quite sad really for a new TV.....will keep u posted

Power problem

Most likely the convergence ICs are bad. These aare large black ICs attached to a heatsink. They will be marked STK393-110 and have about 15 pins or so. Replace these and check the fuses marked F9A01- F9A06 on the same board. Replace any open fuses after the IC replacement and report your results here.

Bad Picture Blueish picture

If the red gun stops working it could make the picture very blue-greenish. This could be caused by a number of problems, including a coolant leak, but it's most likely a bad electrical connection somewhere in the set.

Best left to a professional repair guy, frankly.

I would contact Hitachi, explain the problems you have had with the set and the inability of the service personnel not beibng able to repair the set. They may exchange it. Dont delay or you may end up being stuck with a set thats destined for alot of repair bills.
