Make sure printer is off. Then old down escape and online button at the same time. Continue to hold these two buttons down then turn on printer. Continue to hold those two buttons down (will take about 2 - 3 minutes). This should clear that message - worked for me!!!

I'm 99% all the responses on the error 990/999 are wrong. This error is due to a clogged waste ink line. These are great printers but they have some design weaknesses and this is one of them. I believe the waste ink coats the inside of the waste ink line and then a layer dries (the end of the waste ink line is open to the above the waste ink collector) then another, then another until the line clogs. You can put water inside the head cap when you have this error and the priming pump will not pull it thru to the printer and you'll notice no ink shows up in you waste ink collector. I was able to recover a GX3050sfn from this error by power cycling and chunks of dried ink showed up in the waste ink collector. Now the bad news, it does not seem to be simple task to clear the waste ink line, but I'm working on a solution. I've tried connecting an extension tube to the waste ink tube above the collector and pulled a vacuum with a 60mL syringe when the printer was powered on but no luck (this can clear epson waste ink line clogs because I've done that many times to fix C80s/C84s/C86s etc.). It is possible to prevent this from ever happening by creating a sealed bottled waste ink system (contact me at adaptive2009@hotmail.com if you want help with this). I should have a fix also very soon even if I have to disassemble the printer.

Ricoh Gx7000 inkjet A3 Printer - what does 'error 990' mean?

Error 990 indicates a dirty sensor, so either a maintenance unit is dirty or you have a clogged print head. You can read more about this error on Richo website where you can see in the images what you need to clean.

Error code 990 still after reset. what to do

Error 990 is an error message that has to do with the ink drying out on the maintenance unit. Unfortunately this is a fatal error and the printer will need to be replaced as the maintenance unit can only be fixed by a technician. You will have contact Ricoh for further information on possible replacement.

Have error code 990 on ricoh gx 3000 printer how do i clear this?

you can try pulling out and reseating the Waste Ink tank which is located behind the machine behind a plastic door cover (left side of machine as you are looking at it from behind). Turn the machine off and on using the main power switch. If the code comes back then you will more than likely need a new Waste Ink Tank.
