As soon as I turn on my Xbox 360, it tells me to open and close it over and over again. I sign myself in and it still does not work. This Xbox 360 worked fine yesterday, but it has started to become a problem. I tried to re-connect the wires, but nothing happened, and I tried to put in other games it the tray , but it simply will not load it! Am I doing something wrong?

It sounds like your DVD drive's lazer has stopped working. Try buying a DVD head cleaner from any local computer repair shop and running that through your Xbox 360. This often solves this problem, but if not, you will need to contact Microsoft to come and repair your console. Hopefully you still have a warranty on it.

My xbox 360 doesnt want to read the game. when i put in gears of war, it tells me to open tray. i open it then close it and again it tells me to open tray. ive done the clean cd and still the same thing....

Unfortunately this is a common issue with the xbox. If you have tried all the steps that are provided on the xbox support website, it may be time to call xbox support and get your xbox repaired. If it is out of warranty, I'd honestly just get a new one cause the repairs run about $120 out of warranty.

How to fix the "open tray" error on Xbox 360

When ever you have a problem with your Xbox 360 always do these steps first:
1. Turn off your Xbox 360
2. Unplug all of your cords
3. Plug your cords back in
4. Turn your Xbox 360 back on

1. Now with your Xbox 360 on open your tray.
2. Hold your tray open while you turn Xbox 360 off making sure it doesn't close.
3. Still making sure your tray doesn't close turn it back on.
4. Have fun!!!

If this does not work you will have to send it into microsoft to fix. If your warranty is up you will have to pay $150 to fix it. Otherwise it's free

When I put in Call of duty Black ops in my Xbox 360 it keeps telling me to open and close tray reapeatidly

The XBox 360 is a wonderful video game console, however, with heavy usage, the laser (and/or other components in the drive) will eventually burn out. The first signs of the laser starting to burn out is that your game will start freezing during game play. Eventually the games will stop reading altogether and you will get an "OPEN TRAY" message when you put a disc in and close the tray. What this means is that the XBox 360 thinks that there is no disc in the system.

You can find more information, along with any parts or repair services you need to fix the issue yourself (or have them fix it) at the following page:

I turn my 360 on and instead of reading the game, it says "open tray". i open the tray and close it back and i hear 2 clicks and then it says "open tray" again.

My Xbox 360 does that too sometimes. All I usually do is first try turning the disc. If that doesn't work, try an empty tray. If you still get that message after trying again, put in a DVD. That can help. If none of that works, unplug your 360 and leave it for a day. Then try again.

360 with no video with no sound

  • what probably happend is that the cable connecting your 360 to your tv screwed up so get a new 1 there pretty cheap and the same cord works for 4 diferent consoles.

When i place a disk in my Xbox 360 console it

I have had this happen about 3 times. The first time was when i figured out how to fix it. The 2nd and 3rd were temporary.(Just needed to be turned off for a moment) You need to shut the console off for atleast 15 minutes 10 at the lowest with everthing unplugged. I mean the hard drive, memory unit, and all cables, and adapters. Then after 10-15 minutes plug everything in and DON'T PRESS the BUTTONS ON THE XBOX OR THE CONTROLLERS. Press the button to open the tray and take out the game or dvd and put in a different one. If this doesn't work do it all over again and then put in a different game or dvd not the previous ones and turn on the console the same but then a soon as you get the disc in and closed in shut it off then open the tray and wait till you are at the main menu go into any program so you can't see it is reading and close the tray. If that doesn't work contact the xbox support line. Really hope this works for you.
