Question about Sharp Televison & Video

5 Answers

I recently purchased a flat-screen Sharp TV with a built in DVD. I have tried everything to get audio, but cannot. The bar moves when you press the volume but no sound. I've tried the regular remote for the TV (I have Verizon FIOS), a universal remote and also purchased a SHARP remote-didn't have one because this was purchased at a discount off the floor. Can you help. Thank you. Michele

Dear sir/madam,

first - try the volume on the TV itself, just in case the volume buttons on the remote aren't working. Also make sure there are no audio cables plugged into the jacks on the back of the TV.

If your TV has a setup mode (usually found on the remote control), go into the setup and check the audio settings. It's possible that it's set to send the audio to the audio output jacks instead of the speakers. This setup would typically be used in a home theater environment where the sound is sent to an audio system with it's own speakers, and therefore the TV speakers aren't used.
If it is, then change it to speakers instead of "line out" or something similar.

thanks
good luck

Well, if you just purchased it and are sure that it isn't muted, on SAP, or MONO. Then I would just take it back to where you got it and exchange it for a different one which would be the easiest option. Let me know of anything else that you need or have questions on

good luck

First unplug TV power cord for two minutes to reset it.
Try pressing the mute button on the remote, if this does not work try plugging external speakers to test sound and to check if the external audio speakers are working and if a stuck audio jack socket is cause of the problem.
If it still does not work the TV is faulty, in this case see if you can get a refund or a replacement, and check your guaranty terms.

What i believe is that the audio cable inside the tv is not connected or may have been bad due to this reason you are not getting the real audio but you can see the bar moves when you increase or decrease the volume from the remote control get the unit opened and checked.

Mitsu 57731 problems have wide bar across screen

This is an ongoing problem with Mitsubishi DLP HDTV's contact the Customer Service at 1-800-332-211. Tell them this has been going on for a while and you want the TV either Fixed or Replaced. Ask for Adrianne Hardt, she is a Customer Service Manager...... TELL HER RICK GRIFFITH told you to call.

I am in the 4th week negociations with Mitsubishi over these exact problems. I purchased my 57" DLP HDTV in Aug of 06. Replaced the Lamp 3 times and have had 5 Service calls. I DO NOT have and extended Warranty. Mitsubishi provided me with the extention in writing and stated if any problem occurred again they would replace the Unit or provided monetary compensation.

Good Luck and be persistant.

Any of you can email me for from info and covette54@live.com

Plays dvds on xbox 360 fine, but no picture for games/dashboard

already solved it. thanks. i couldn't see the xbox settings blade because of the blank screen so switched my component cable to the tv setting instead of the hdtv setting, then i could see the dashboard in non-hd and switched the resolution to 720p while simultaneously switching the component cable back to the hdtv setting. that worked.

Need more codes for programmimg my Universal Remote (UR4U-MDVR2-CHD2) for my Sharp TV.

I own a One-for-All universal remote, and my booklet says that the setup code for a Sharp TV ( without a built-in DVD or VCR) is 0093. I can not guarantee that this number will work with your remote, but it is worth a try.

yes it could ba the cable itself even, but i suspect more the tuner circuit or tuner itself may have bad solder connections. Here is another test for you to try, plug another dvd or vcr, or xbox etc. into the back, using one odf the inputs. See if this works like the built in dvd. if so it will be more likely bad connections in the tuner or surrounding circuit. good luck.
