Yaesu FT-990 ham transceiver has display and panel lights flashing=no RX or TX. Had same problem 2 years ago and was fixed by PLL board alignment . Repairer no longer does FT=990. Anyone know of reputable servicer for the FT-990 , especially someone who can repair just the plug in card and not have to send entire transceiver? It required longer and longer warm up before lock on but now it just flashes. I put my card in a friends same model and no help. Put his local/Pll card in my rig and all is perfect again. Any source for usable local /PLL card? AC4EY

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Yeasu FT990 Gone Deaf

This could be many things but a good place to look is the TX/RX and ATTENUATOR relays. These are problem areas in a lot of radios. This is a complicated radio and if you need to ask this question I would suggest you find someone that knows how to work on these. It will require a fair bit of skill to find the problem and replace the parts. The radio has a lot of surface mount components which are difficult to work with without causing more, and often, expensive damage.

Radio power`s on but no transmit or receive on ssb however it will transmit with full power on fm

If your receiver was operating previously but now the SSB option is not working, very likely the sideband detector has failed. I'm not directly familiar with your Yaesu unit but, in most Yaesu transceivers, the SSB chip and control circuit (including diodes) is identified in print on the main board.

Cant hear anything on my yeasu-ft990

Try using a head set to see if the speaker is broken or disengaged, also check TX switch is not on.

If a "reset didn't do it, you'll need to contact Yaesu tech support - they're very helpful (but best not to call early Monday or late Friday).

How do i get expanded freqs on my ft1802 yaesu tranceiver

The FT-1802 is a 50 watt 2 meter FM transceiver. It can transmit anywhere between 144 - 148 Mhz (the FM portion) of the 2 meter ham band. It can receive anywhere between 136 - 174 Mhz without any modifications. There is a modification to enable transmit "out of band" below:

There are few details about the results of this mod - typically these provide for transmitting on frequencies outside (above, below or both) of the 2 meter ham band. Transmitting outside of the ham band without a proper license for the frequencies in the U.S. is a violation of FCC rules.
