Pop up repeatedly

Repeated, unwanted popups are usually the result of spyware (90% of the time), or viruses or other problems (the other 10%).

I highly recommend Norton Internet Security (NOT plain Norton 'Antivirus') as an all-around solution for the average computer user, but you can also remove most popups with some free programs:

MalwareBytes AntiMalware (best SPYWARE remover)

Avira Free AntiVirus -or- Microsoft Security Essentials -or- Avast Free Antivirus (decent VIRUS removers; not nearly as good as Norton, but they are free and remove 80+% of viruses).

One product cannot fix/remove all spyware and viruses these days. I personally use Norton + MalWareBytes , and occasionally run Super AntiSpyware free edition as well.

You can get all the above programs (or links to them) at http://www.download.com (be sure to read all screens during installation, and opt OUT of any additional offered software). Be aware that some are completely free, while others are 30-day trial versions.

PS: always say NO to any "toolbar" installations that come with ANY program you install... especially online games. I use NO toolbars other than those from Yahoo/Google/Norton. Third-party browser toolbars are a huge source of spyware/malware.

Antivirus protection scan

It *WILL* install a virus if you allow it to. Sometimes these programs make it very difficult to NOT download their ****. It's telling you to download something in the hopes that you WILL accept the download.

***Do NOT download anything that you do not WANT to download. ***

Anytime you get to a website like this, make a note of it to never visit it again. Anytime you want to download something, make SURE it is what you want and nothing more. At the end of the day, it is NOT worth risk. The wrong decision could ruin your computer, lose your files, misdirect your websearches, slow your internet connection, among some of the results. The internet can be a very dangerous place.

Better to err on the side of caution.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Do an antivirus update and run a scan at LEAST once a week. Even the safest websites can put **** on your computer.

Norton security does not stop what it should

If you have another computer system around, remove the hard drive and plug the drive into the other system. Scan the hard drive using a virus scanner.

Some viruses are difficult to remove otherwise.

I would recommend Kaspersky as an Antivirus system and proactive scanner. It has not failed me yet. It has a 30 day trial (I think its 30 days) that you can try.

It helps the antivirus system, to have your computer free of infections (viruses, spyware, etc.) before installing any antivirus software.

2008 Virus Remover keeps popping up

u can't uninstalled properly i think...if u have spyware doctor is enough for virus removal. Check spyware doctor is full total internet protection (with antivirus also) or it only spyware protection.

also simply steps do that.....(Before CAUTION)

go to Start->Run->Type msconfig-> they will show a pop up window. Click the tab button 'startup' it will list all the program of startup when windows is booting / system on. U click the Disable all button. Then reboot the system. After that it now shows any popup window. But u need to open the avg program manually.

please go with caution of popup window msconfig. bec. if u have any do wrongly with tat option the system may be corrupt.

thanks
good luck

Virus problem

Hi, viruses are quite easy to remove, and shouldnt cost you anything if done correctly.

uninstall any virus software you have, download this software and install it
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/Panda-Antivirus-Titanium.shtml
update it and scan the whole system, it will pick them up and remove them, then once its took off as many as it can, uninstall this virus check and install a different one like this

http://us.trendmicro.com/us/products/

do one more scan and your as good as new...

you dont have to change the virus checker the second time, but alot of virus checker dont always pick up them all so always better to scan with two different ones to make sure there all off..

All the best

John

Multi-popups

Hey, sounds like you have spyware or maybe a virus on the computer, i would suggest uninstall any antivirus software you currently have on the computer, and install a 30 day trial like this one.

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/Panda-Antivirus-Titanium.shtml

or goto www.pctools.com and download spyware doctor.

should solve the problem..

All the best

I've already purchased Norton antivirus 2008 with antispyware and loaded but my screen still blue and shows Warning spyware detected in computer & to install antivirus or spyware wich i did.

That blue screen sounds like a trick to me. Many viruses and spywares or the websites that distribute them make beleive that they are causing viruses then provide links to fake antivirus and spyware removal programs that actually make your system worst.

Use the Norton to purchased to do a full deep scan of your system. I also like to supplement my Norton by running the free scan at housecall.trendmicro.com when I suspect there might be a problem on my machine that Norton can't fix.
