Why is CL ( or C ) flashing in the base message window?
This indicates that you need to set the time and day on your answering system. During initial setup and any time there is a loss of power to the base, you will see this flashing indicator. Consult your User's Manual for instructions on setting the day and time. Manuals for most models can found on this site. Go to our MANUALS section, then search for your particular model.
According to VTech the "CL" message alerts you to the loss of power and the need to reset the clock. Please refer to the user manual under the "Answering System Operation/Set the Clock" section to reset the clock.
If you don't have the manual, let me know and I will try to locate it.

I'm getting CL too, and don't know what that means, but I DO know how to get your remote phones to work. Before I lost the manual I had to do that. Simply set each one in the main charger for about 20 seconds and they will work.
Press and hold "set" until the "Chime" screen comes up.
Let off "set" and then press "mode" - This will take you to the clock. adjust the numbers by using "st/sp" and "reset". Use the mode button to cycle through the hour, min, sec and date.
This was a pain in the **** until I figured it out.
